Crisis is an opportunity to see anew & act (read build). Real risk we become so attuned as to accept un-affordability as a ‘given’. It is a choice. With imagination and grit we can choose better. Do we (as a society) want to? We don’t need inflation metrics to see this.

Interesting 🧵 @trustforlondon. CLTs can be part of solving the #housingcrisis. We bring community-led, genuinely #affordablehomes to more Londoners. @CommLandTrusts estimates potential for 278K CLT homes in UK. But scaling up needs consistent funding!

👍… reflecting a point to impress 📢 ‘this is possible’ - #CitizensHouse is a today reminder. Adopting a ‘grand parenting’ 👁️ of organising we can both see our deep history in HA’s and Co-Op’s of old, @Se1Stories, @CoinStreet @RUSSLewisham @ldncash nearby and maybe a future 🚀

Gloria was hair of @lewishamcitz when the campaign began... and here on the balcony of the homes she helped build! #CitizensHouse exists not because of developers and paid staff, but beause 100s of leaders like Gloria believed change was possible and took action to make it real.

You're not terribly wrong! It'll take a lot to change our neighbourhood, but with arts, education, housing, a community pub, we've made a start. Greening the marsh could be something beautiful, but we can't do it all ourselves - we need people of good will to get behind us...
