1. if you wait for a layoff to realize the tools of your trade have changed, that’s a personal failure not systemic imo 2. seems like confusing the mechanism of work with the value of work. knowledge is value not tactile skills. 3. ur assessment assumes a stagnant economy where efficiency kills demand. It doesn't. It lowers the floor and raises the ceiling. in general, you're moving the discussion to the flaws of passive failure to adapt the responsibility of which falls on us. we can't absolve people of basic drive. the point I was making was about incremental adaptation, which is what EVERY single tech paradigm shift has led to. ex- physical mail died but did that cause a complete breakdown of the mailing supply chain? nope, we used that knowledge in other domains

@rushillshah @haha_girrrl Your comments are based on 1- Realizing you need to reskill prior to layoff. 2 - Assuming the value of your existing skills are easily transferred and 3 - Career shift is required if 1 and 2 don’t play out as expected. Note - my assessment is not limited to tech skills.

If Ai replaces people & companies automate away the very people who buy their products, who exactly is supposed to keep the economy running? Strange how that obvious question barely gets any attention.

1. your logic relies on a false binary. you don't rlly need to go back to school and stop your current engagements to reskill. 2. you assume your existing skills lose value overnight. domain expertise is more valuable than the execution that's getting commoditized. 3. you confuse a tool shift with a career shift- pretending like every domain is going to disappear entirely. if you cannot add value to your domain, it's a skill issue. you need to switch domains.

It is the AI learning at a higher rate for your newly “Reskilled” talents. While you are “Reskill’n” you have to live in current society without income. How does that work?🥸
