LIV Tulsa + Byron Nelson Takes: (See profile for LIV day 1-2 recaps) Starting with LIV - Best leaderboard yet. DJ, Cam, Bubba, Brooks, Bryson, HVIII. - Playoff with 2 of the best golfers in the world? Couldn’t have asked for a better finish - Today I watched on TV, and the course looked rough. No better way to put it - The team thing is getting better, but it’s still not all the way there. Seems like a glorified side show, yet it was the best job yet with showing contributing teammates down the stretch. (Reed, Perez, Dean) - Huge turnout, US traction is rising. I expect with that leaderboard viewing will be up. - It’s insane that DJ and Cam will fall on the OWGR. - Just like the Masters, I expect LIV to perform better than what the media expects Byron(in person): - Jason Day winning was a huge win for the Byron. Probably one of the biggest names. - The top of the leaderboard was actually strong down the stretch. However people watching didn’t know most of the players. So many randoms from 10-80 that made the cut. - A 20+ volunteer told me “this is the worst field I’ve ever seen at this event” - The structure set up, the volunteers, the operations are 10/10. You can tell the event has happened here, they have it down to a science. - It truly is a shame the PGAT didn’t designate it. And it was felt - The people love hometown Scottie, and him in the mix is awesome - 🚨Their 17 hole, is awesome, however it lacked music! Needs tunes rolling. But it is massive! Comparing - I like golf, so I truly did enjoy both tournaments - They are different and that’s okay, they were both fun and had great finishes! - It wasn’t a question that LIV had 3x the caliber field. Today at the Byron, 4 groups would go by and I wouldn’t know a soul. - The music at LIV really did make the vibes better. You’ll have to be there to know what I mean. It’s not overwhelming, it’s casual. Go to any NBA game, they now all play music. - The Byron did groups of 3 off from 10/1… PGAs version of a shotgun start, so not a big difference there. - TPC Craig Ranch is one of the worse courses on the PGA Tour, and it was 2x Cedar Ridge. Also the structures were much bigger, and they had GA seating areas. - It’s crazy to me that one event got OWGR and met Major championship criteria, and one didn’t. - LIV in 1 year put on an event caliber to an event that has been around for decades… - Buckle up golf fans, I believe LIV will be in Dallas next year👀 - more to come.
