So it is key we are very clear about why the role should be a nursing one.

@mo_theurer @NurseStandard The point is that #nurses need to start on a higher pay scale - otherwise the workforce will cease to exist. A survey of leavers found 49% left earlier than planned, many blaming burnout, poor physical & mental health. Many nurses are using food banks & in financial crisis!

@NurseStandard I don't agree, they are newly qualified, so don't have the skills, expertise, experience or skills to function as a band 6. They need to consolidate their training for at least a year to be considered for a band 6. Has anyone who endorses this worked in practice?

Newly qualified nurses should start working in the NHS on Band 6, with a starting salary of more than £37,000, according to the RCN. rcni.com/nursing-standa…
