Fans today on the whole had a great day from feedback. We always learn and improve. Come a long way.

@HarryHugoGoat and @FarnhamTownFC congratulations !!! Can the Memorial Ground cope with 2000+ regular attendances given more away support and larger interest in league above ? Maybe a convo for another day. Just curious !

@rwainwright67 Think it’s a factor. We got a good draw on the day. But so hard to quantify and compare with one data set. Would they have drunk in a nearby pub instead if the offer wasn’t there?

Used my (coming soon) non league football club management product Clubhouse to decipher if the Non League Day promotion was a success. clubhousefootball.co.uk Below is the analysis: 🤝 The Promotion: Free Entry to all fans who got through turnstiles before 2PM 🧠 The Theory: More people coming in earlier would potentially spend more on F+B because of the goodwill of the free ticket and shift our spend window forward by 30-60 minutes ✏️ The Summary: We drove far more revenue in the pre kick off window than we usually do. Average here is £5,200 but yesterday we drove £6,952 before 3PM. £1,736 positive difference. I wasn’t there so can’t comment really on the “feeling” this brought to the ground, but from conversations with staff and wider club team, the atmosphere was building much earlier and created the right feeling for a big game. This is important for first time visitors at the club - all of whom I hope had a great time yesterday, be them a home or away supporter. Worth saying we had our second highest attendance of the season (1,443) and obviously we lost out on a lot of ticket revenue that makes up about 30% of our average Saturday match-day revenue. Yesterday we only did £1,700 of ticket revenue (£10 per adult ticket £6 concession) which shows only 12% of our total revenue. Basingstoke last week with 1,100 fans we did £5,388 of ticket revenue (32% of the takings) Despite lost takings on the gate, we sold out of food and mostly out of drink from all outlets which is a great sign and (fingers crossed 🤞🏽) great practise for the play-offs. Yesterday was our biggest taking on drink since Sholing at home with just shy of £10k of drink sold. Last of all, thank you to all of the @TheCurfews fans who came along and made it a great day. Takes two great fan bases to make special club days. It’s appreciated. ✅ Overall a successful promotion that did move the dial for a one off game. Clearly ticket revenue is the most precious commodity for football clubs as it is 100% margin. Would do again for one-off opportunities like non league day. Happily answer questions.

@HarryHugoGoat @FarnhamTownFC @theterras V interesting financials, Harry. You’ll need to run the experiment a few more times but the RpH figure and your point on sustainability probably drives this to be a semi regular thing. Pre Sat eve social option for the town - that was the feel of the place yesterday

I said I’d do an honest review of the 5:30PM rescheduled Saturday kick off time, come rain or shine, positive or negative. I owe it to both @FarnhamTownFC fans, @theterras fans and the wider non-league community ⬇️ 🧵I’ve together a thread on what worked & what didn’t (try not to think about the result!) from a club point of view in changing the kick off time. 💷 Very honest about financials 🙋‍♂️ Take responsibility for some mistakes 🎥 Open about why we did it I’m sure I’ll get laughed at because we lost, but I want to continue being transparent in success or adversity.

Couldn’t be prouder of the boys and the club. What a performance. 3 brilliant finishes and undone by a moment of quality at the end by the professional side. We’re just going to have to do it again on Tuesday. It was HORRIBLE watching it from the sky. See my different positions. Guess the one taken in the 98th minute. @FarnhamTownFC @EmiratesFACup

Well that was what might be called a vigorous exchange between me and Sir R Dearlove, disagreeing about just about everything in relation to our relations with the EU on security and defence (between 1405 and 1450)!

@ciaranmartinoxf Absolutely. And it would borrow from the counter-terrorist playbook where so much more emphasis is placed on this kind of intel-led collaboration across multiple partners. A playbook that generally works

@MikeBubbins Yup, Curb is outstanding and Larry David a genius, which so many others followed in their comedy, including Ricky Gervais

Continuing my tour of spires here’s the Belfry in Ghent - although the real attraction is next door in the cathedral, the amazing van Eyck Adoration of the Lamb (which an iPhone photo cannot do justice to). Do go and see it!
