@RichMillington In my case, I decided that the next phase of growth would be better managed by someone who has done that part before, at this scale, and that is why I brought in Kevin. I am a tech guy and am going to return to focus on the product and listening to customers. That's what I love.

Aside, the current level of staff turnover at community platform vendors (especially at the top) at the moment is the highest I've ever seen. HigherLogic and Lithium, especially, have replaced almost their entire executive teams.

@RichMillington This is a great discussion - thanks, Rich, for leading it! I can't speak for Lithium, but a few clarifying points wrt HL. In the 22 months since JMI invested we've grown over 100% organically and an additional 200% through acquisitions. Definitely exceeded all expectations!

@RichMillington @maggielmcg I can't speak for Lithium, but that is certainly not the case for HL. We grew by over 300% in the last 22 months since JMI invested. That certainly exceeded their expectations. In my case, I have lead the operations as far as I want to and will now return to focusing on the tech

@maggielmcg Lithium were acquired / HL received a huge investment in 2016/7ish. I'd speculate the investment created huge pressure to drive far bigger results. It didn't happen fast enough and then investors decided to bring in their own people. (that's complete speculation though).

Sad to see @rwenger step down as CEO of HigherLogic. A really awesome guy who always had time for everyone - even during the middle of HL's events. Would be curious to know if investors nudged him out of the CEO role. Can't be easy to sustain breakneck growth in mature markets.
