Yes. Fandom WAS toxic pre 2020. I was there. Gamer Gate, ship wars, gatekeeping, squabbling and a LOT of mess and noise.
Post-COVID, it IS different.
Because before, it was infighting.
Now, it’s people looking down at even common fandom activities as aberrant behavior.
