These days I give all football punditry a miss. I find it tedious, non-informative, and leans far too much into ragebait style content. But this is brilliant and I’m really glad I watched. This is human. Fair play to everyone here for giving it the time to breathe and land.

@DialSquareGunna He’s had a bad season by his standards and there’s not many more years left at Liverpool, so it’s worth enjoying as a Liverpool supporter when we get the flashes of his brilliance back in moments - what on earth about that doesn’t make sense?

@ryan3levis Pretty much every forward has struggled this year - Salah has 19 G/A which is one of the best in the league still. So what you’re saying above doesn’t really make sense.

The Salah goal was special. It’s very clear we’re in the dying embers of one of the greatest Liverpool careers. It’s just not all there anymore and it’s sad at times. So when it all clicks back into gear, even for just a brief moment, it’s worth revelling in.

@JamesDissent @SohamTheRed “Dying embers” was probably too strong a term for what I really meant, which was he’s had a bad season and there’s not many seasons left for him at Liverpool. Those moments won’t be around regularly for the next 8 years so should just appreciate them when they happen.

@ryan3levis @SohamTheRed I think this is mistaken. He just finished maybe the greatest all time EPL season. He’s been misused and marginalized this year. Today we were set up to maximize his impact, and he replied with a world class performance. I think he has plenty left in the tank.

@Hari_Sethi Absolutely pal. You could even see it in his reaction as well, all glassy eyed, he’s gonna cherish whatever is left too. A privilege watching him, and this weird season will certainly not define him in my memory that’s for sure!

@ryan3levis I’ve seen such disrespect aimed his way. As you say, everything he touches no longer always turns to gold but I’ll be cherishing every moment we get.

Genuinely didn’t budge during this break. Had zero faith anything was gonna happen.

I don't think it helps that the squad is mediocre and unbalanced. But lots of quality in there. Quality that won the title last season. Quality that was added. If circumstances need to be ideal for the manager to get results then that isn't good enough.

Today, for me, was a clear illustration of how the manager is not up to it. This was not a working system let down by players. The system comprises of sterile possession before giving the ball to isolated wingers and hope for the best. That’s on Arne.

I just don’t understand this separation of the players being poor from anything of the manager’s doing and planning. It’s a grace Slot no longer deserves.

If the winger master plan is to give the ball high and wide and leave them isolated to take on the full back, the centre back, and the two recovering midfielders… then I’m not sold.
