Today our family is mourning the loss of Linda Ruder, both my mother-in-law and the special woman @SarahDInKC and I have honored with charity softball events since 2016. She was given 6-12 months in June 2015 and battled 5 years. All 139 of us that have played are hurting today!

2024 they started 12-6, and 2021 they were 16-9 before falling apart. Every other year this decade: 2025: 8-14 2023: 8-26 2024: 9-18 2020: 3-10 2019: 9-20 2018: 5-20 2017: 7-16

It’s baffling how they won’t let Erceg close because his strikeout numbers trend down, but Estevez is barely throwing 92 and they’re like “hey man we just hope it gets better”

Somebody asked Q “did Salvy’s home run really take the lid off and get you guys going?” Q was like “oh yeah, for sure it did” Buddy you scored one run after that and it was on an error. What is your goofy ass talking about? And who on earth are they letting ask questions?????

Q is the manager that can’t wait to get his starter out of games for giving up one out singles but when Estevez is a pumpkin and lets 4 of 5 reach, he’s like “nah man no need for a change.” Such a nonexistent feel for the game, this Q.

@OShowKCJared Benintendi was an All Star and was probably the hottest bat on the market at the deadline that year they moved him. He was legitimately good. He had a 5.2 WAR in 1.5 years here!

It was a rough night for Collins and Marte . Lane Thomas did reach base twice with a walk and hit. Royals knew the offense was an issue but chose progression internally and a trade as the options over free agency. Still have to tell yourself it’s just one game.

@JasonHeffernon Wonder what a framework around a Ragans deal would have looked like. Is KC better with Duran than Ragans? They might be, if the rotation holds up from a health perspective

OFs with a 4+ WAR in 2025: Judge, Carroll, Soto, JRod, PCA, Springer, Buxton, Belli, Tucker, Pages, Langford. Duran was a 3.9 and the Royals tried but Boston wanted the best pitcher in our entire Org for him. Find an avenue to acquiring one of those other guys and I'll concede

@JasonHeffernon By same roster I meant same lineup. I hope you’re right. I just think they need a 4 WAR outfielder to really take that next step. I get that they don’t grow on trees but they haven’t had one in a long time

@ryan_landreth "same roster as last year" except all of our pitchers are healthy. Our top 2 in the lineup rivals almost any non LAD top 2 in the game. Bullpen is vastly improved. Jensen/Jac are going to be better. Collins was a ROTY finalist last season. I do think they'll be better, yes.

So the Royals did virtually nothing to change an offense that was bottom-third in the AL in OBP, slugging, and runs, and dead last in home runs, and now they open up this year with a goose egg. Were we, uh, expecting it to be different?
