With #BabylonJS5, the first version of Babylon React Native brings Babylon.js experiences to #Android and #iOS with the power of Babylon.js and #ReactNative . Leverage native mobile capabilities like #AugmentedReality not yet supported in browsers. #bgfx @MSPowerApps

@maxlynch @alvaro_ahc @babylonjs @MSPowerApps @capacitorjs If the question was about having a native 3D/AR experience in the same app with the WebView/JS based experience, then for sure yes. If the question was about bringing JS code using the Babylon.js API (3D/AR) to mobile, then this is the unique value offered by Babylon React Native

@maxlynch @alvaro_ahc @babylonjs @MSPowerApps @capacitorjs A native XR experience driven by native code, not driven by the JS app code, correct? In the videos above, all the interactions with the Babylon scene are driven from the same JS code that makes up the rest of the app (UI, etc.).

@maxlynch @alvaro_ahc @babylonjs @MSPowerApps @capacitorjs I don't think this would be possible in Ionic/Capacitor. In these frameworks, JS execution and rendering happens inside a WebView, where WebXR (augmented reality) is not supported. Communication between native and the WebView is async and not fast enough to support real time XR.

@reactnative You can do quite a bit with 3D/XR in React Native today using Babylon React Native: @babylonjs/react-native" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">npmjs.com/package/@babyl…. App code can be used on the web too since it uses the existing Babylon.js API.

@RaananW @Pilgrimnow @babylonjs That's right, when using Babylon Native, you can just use the existing Babylon.js XR APIs and under the hood it will be backed by ARKit/ARCore. We currently support core 6-dof tracking, plane detection, anchors, and hit testing.

@davidfowl @dotnet Is json parsing really so fundamental that it belongs in netcore? What in netcore will depend on this? Why isn't it just a standalone lib?

We’re writing a JSON stack as part of .NET Core 3.0. We’ll have a reader/writer, a JSON DOM and a full serializer. It’s the first JSON parser I’ve seen that supports async without a huge performance hit and I haven’t seen any third party json library do this.
