Memphis spent in the $4.5-5 million range for their roster last season. 20+ teams spent 2x what they did last season. In fact, I’m told even a few non-P5s have more to spend this upcoming year than Memphis spent last year. Now, the market is up roughly 35% from last offseason + more schools are already upping their rev share/NIL commitments for this next season. Memphis MBB is already at a significant disadvantage in terms of resources in their tier of programs (due to failure to having an adequate plan for rev share environment). Non-P5s are gaining ground, while P5s are separating themselves. This is why identifying/evaluating talent is even more important for them. It’s their only way to make up ground on teams they used to outspend + outrecruit.

South Florida’s Wes Enis on what it would mean to pull off the 11-6 upset 👀 “I don't think it's an upset. I think we're the better team. I don't really care what 11-6 says. I think we're the better team, so I wouldn't really call it an upset."

Sources: Roy Rogers has informed Memphis that he will not seek a new contract to pursue NBA opportunities.
