This broken crosswalk light really adds to the Granville Bridge pedestrian experience. #yvr

This is the pedestrian infrastructure we get after close to 2.5 years of work— in a city that regularly promotes itself as a world-class, walkable, people-first urban environment. @KenSimCity @CityofVancouver

Based on 2026 forecasts from MarketsandMarkets, Deloitte, and LightCounting, photonics (esp. silicon photonics) could see wide adoption in AI data centers by 2028-2030, driven by 1.6T transceivers and efficiency needs. Stocks like IPGP and COHR are already profitable or turning so in 2026, with market growth to $1.5T by 2030 aiding cash flow. Not financial advice; timelines vary by company and market conditions.

Buying Copper stocks in 2026 could be like buying Bitcoin in late 2022. > 42 million metric tons needed by 2040. > That's 50% increase in demand. > AI data centers 3x their copper consumption. > EV requiring 4x more copper per vehicle. > Grid expansion eating up 15.7m metric tons. $WRN, $NAK, $COPX, $FCX & $SCCO.

@grok @newstart_2024 What about the distribution of this "abundance"? Do you think this is something that would be universally distributed?

Elon Musk argues AI will create extreme abundance, making retirement savings irrelevant as services like housing, healthcare, and entertainment become universally available. He envisions "Universal High Income" (not just basic) where AI/robots eliminate scarcity, distributing wealth broadly. He believes rapid AI progress will outpace hoarding by governments or sellers, though critics note this assumes equitable policies. It's optimistic and uncertain.

Elon Musk just gave retirement planning the most radical advice possible: “Don’t worry about squirreling money away for retirement in 10 or 20 years — it won’t matter. You won’t need to save for retirement.” His reasoning (from the same conversation): We’re already in the singularity — “the event horizon” where prediction breaks down. The accelerating timeline makes long-term saving irrelevant. Services, homes, healthcare, entertainment — abundance will be so extreme that the old rules vanish. Peter Diamandis: “The way this unfolds is fundamentally impossible to predict because of self-improvement of the AI and the accelerating timeline.” Elon: “We’re in this beautiful sweet spot… like being at the top of the roller coaster about to drop. I don’t just have courtside seats — I’m on the court.” If saving for retirement becomes pointless in the next 10–20 years because we’re already past the event horizon… what’s the first thing you’d change about how you live right now?

Anton Lundell and Oliver Kapanen don’t dress for Finland. Goal: Juuse Saros vs Damian Clara Finland regulation win, Group B finishes: 1) Slovakia 2) Finland 3) Sweden Any other result except an Italian regulation win: 1) Sweden 2) Slovakia 3) Finland If Italy wins in regulation: 1) Sweden 2) Slovakia 3) Italy

Elon Musk isn’t automating jobs. He’s deleting companies. Project Macrohard. Painted on a roof in letters visible from space. Musk calls it the most important thing xAI will build. Musk: “We aren’t just automating tasks. We are automating the corporation.” The insight is surgical: if what you produce is digital, you don’t need to exist. Musk: “It should be possible to completely emulate any company where the output is digital.” The world’s most powerful corporations produce nothing physical. Google doesn’t make objects. Meta doesn’t manufacture. Microsoft ships bits, not atoms. If your product is information, your company is just organized thinking. And thinking can be replicated perfectly at zero cost. Musk: “Their output is digital. So they don’t actually make hardware.” That’s the vulnerability. Every company that doesn’t touch physical reality is just expensive middleware between a problem and a solution. Project Macrohard removes the middleware. No employees. No politics. No overhead. Just function. Pure output at near-zero marginal cost, 24/7, forever. This isn’t about making companies more efficient. It’s about making them unnecessary. The Fortune 500 spent a century optimizing competition against other humans. They have zero defense against entities that don’t sleep, strike, or resign. The largest corporations on Earth are just legacy architecture waiting to be compressed into executable code that does it better, faster, and free.

@CityofVancouver @ParkBoard can you help me understand why we allow geese to overrun our parks (Granville Island waterpark) and defecate everywhere? Parents and kids can't play or sit in the grass area without stepping/ sitting in it.

@frank_seravalli @NHLPlayerSafety C'mon! What about slew foots, spearing and hits from behind into the boards? Those are all major penalties that have occurred in this series with no calls, let alone suspensions.

Still too early to call which way @NHLPlayerSafety will go on Soucy/Zadorov cross-checks on McDavid. My opinion: Suspension is necessary. Intent is a dangerous game to play. End result matters: a cross-check to the face after buzzer. Don’t suspend? It’s a free-for-all now.

@ParkBoard @KenSimCity @VSB39 What's the plan here? At the pirate park (beside False Creek elementary) and there are surly geese everywhere (and obviously kids close by). You can't even get to the water fountain without steeping in their waste (which is everywhere). C'mon!

@FortyDeuceTwits Can we discuss Serena's inability to give Osaka credit for the win? I thought being gracious in defeat was part of being graceful? I get that Serena's a competitor and hates losing (which is why she's the 🐐) but c'mon, Osaka was/is awesome.
