Last thing I’ll say on Palhinha: Everyone who’s trying to say “I don’t know ball” for saying he’s limited Please tell me who the best deep midfielders are in the world right now? Tell me which top teams have a “6” who can’t progress play and is there to simply break up counters Because for me the best are Vitinha, Zubimendi, Pedri/De Jong (depending who plays deep), Calhanoglou, Caicedo, Gravenberch Do we see any players there who cannot help progress the ball? If you want to be a top team you need a progressive player in the first phase Arteta literally bought rice to play 6 and then changed his mind as soon as he realised he couldn’t receive off the back 4 Keep sending me how many duels he won though! Even though half of them were post red card

@fc_mossman Enjoy your work. The graphs seem created to include as much info/context as possible for the most “fair” data which can be great, but sometimes less is more and you can stand to make the relevant takeaway/datapoint stick out more and be more naturally understood

Most common theme (besides missing the context I post here) is that ‘they look like a data analyst created them, not a graphic designer’

The replies to this and other tweets about Mathys Tel are crazy. His raw talent and potential is insane, I have no idea why so many spurs fans are so down on him
Go look at the lineups he was in last year and who he had to connect plays with. Just have patience and he’ll explode

Don’t really get where this whole ‘Tel has been shit’ narrative has come from. Joined under the most difficult of circumstances, only really played in the league (that we fielded a weakened team in every week and our own manager stated he didn’t priorities)…and he wasn’t that bad. Was he great, did he set the league alight? No. But he certainly wasn’t shit. Had good moments and bad moments And as for this season, it’s been four games and he hasn’t started a single one. He’s 20 years old. He needs trust, time and opportunities. He might not come good, he might explode, but patience is needed with him and he definitely has the talent.

For the attackers. So much depends on how this season goes. Need to stop over relying on BJ and see what Odobert and Tel can offer. Need clarity on Richy. Is RKM the future Richy replacement? Solanke is clearly a good player but is he injury prone? Can’t have two brittle strikers

All that said, summer 25 is a good window but not great. Left our defense short a left footer, left our midfield short on passing. The former simply requires a depth purchase, the latter probably requires one big $$ purchase, moving on JP/Bents, and Gray proving ready to go

• Palhinha and RKM loans expiring
• Davies, Biss, Bentancur contracts expiring
• Solomon and Dragusin are loan/sales
• Decisions to make on Bents extension & whether to loan Vuskovic/Mellia/Takai/Moore/Lankshear/Donley

So in total — Kudus (£55m), Xavi Simons (£51m), Tel (£37m), Takai (£4m), and then £8m in loan fees for Palhinha and RKM
About £155m spent. The business we did was quite good imo both in terms of quality and value. Needed to do more tho, no left footed defender is crazy

Xavi Simons is a phenomenal signing. He is the ideal left half-space player, something the Spurs squad lack with Maddison out. Exceptional on the half-turn, he has enough core strength to take contact in ground duels, can carry and accelerate play post-reception between the lines, has a good eye for through balls, and possesses a big enough range for long passes. His ball striking is top tier, and he has also developed a socio-affective base at Leipzig alongside his out-of-possession work.
His top speed is limited despite his acceleration, and his weak foot is serviceable. Even so, there is little more you could ask for.
The key to maximizing him is always having runners around him and avoiding touchline static receptions as much as possible.
