If MPs switch parties, the numbers change. That’s not “manufacturing a majority,” that’s the majority shifting. MPs aren’t owned by parties. People elect individuals. Those individuals can choose to sit elsewhere, and voters can punish them later if they don’t like it. And the idea that persuasion or recruiting MPs is some dark conspiracy is naive. Every party does it. Always has. What you’re really saying is you don’t like the outcome. That’s not the same thing as it being undemocratic.

The Liberals won Terrebone, Quebec. The Bloc candidate and the lead all night, until they counted the advanced votes, and then things miraculously flipped. Max Bernier's PPC party came in 6th, just ahead of the Rhinoceros Party.
