@Tsunalyst Maybe one day I will walk into your study and pick a stack, you will not be able to notice.

Update on the study: all done, Alhamdulillah. What I didn’t expect is that it would take building shelves up to the ceiling on all four sides to barely accommodate my books. If y’all need an oomf to supply you with books when the world collapses, you know who to call.

Many Islamic narrations state that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ witnessed God in the form a 'beardless youth' with short curly hair. A very controversial Sufi practice, which abandoned was gazing at "beardless you men"—for it is said they are a manifestation of God's beauty.

Was everyone in Abbasid court a lover of men and/or young boys? According to Al-Tha’alibi, caliph Al-Mu’tasim owned 8000 ghilman, I.e. young beardless boys. Jurists used Qur’an’s aya’h that young beardless boys will be prize for believers in jannah to excuse the practice.

@yetoshi24 @Basha430 Many Sufis believed in Tawhid e Ibless. Like Mansoor Al hallaj , forgot the name of the second one.

@Basha430 I think Milton in the Western canon is the closest to self doubt—"One should ask whether Adam would have done the same in such a disposition". Quite eerie, to think about

He, prince of this world, was once elevated in heaven due to the intensity of his worship; being in that way more honorable than a duty-bound Kantian. For Satan loved God so much, and so wrongly, that he began to love himself; his affirmation of God so absolute, it was self-love.

Satan was always a "classical monotheist".

I really dislike when we tend to interpret history in modernists binaries, cause it just leads to misconstruing history altogether. Why do we as Muslims even think that—such "degenerate" acts can even be considered secular?
Syed@Gypsy_heart8

Other than 2 of them, Mughals were really the most secular Muslim kings ever. The earliest Mughal kings were boy loving, sun worshipping, alcohol & opium addicts then we got two sort of rigid Islamic ones then back to sex and opium fiends with the last one a literary genius.

@mobiusdisk Read a normal book alongside these ones , so that you can discuss with people who ask that. I do the same. Of course I can't discuss the poetry of Abu Nuwas with everyone.

When someone from my family asks me this question I have to give the most basic response because IDK how to explain that I’m either reading on talismanic configurations in al-Andalus from Islamo-Judaic syntheses or tracing praxeology via Islamist/nationalist movements.
shivani@soshivaniofher

i asked this guy if he reads and he told me that’s like asking him if he breathes, so obviously my follow-up question is what he’s reading right now and i can’t wait for his response.
