Excuse me, but about 500,000 "ordinary Russians" are right now fighting to exterminate Ukraine right now. About 120,000 "ordinary Russians" have already been killed in this war to exterminate Ukraine, which is unprecedented since WWII, and this war sees no end in sight. Up to 25,000 "ordinary Russians" are joining the Russian military every single month to get some real crazy money for helping exterminate Ukraine. Russia's overall military force deployed to exterminate Ukraine is expected to grow to about 700,000 "ordinary Russians" by the end of 2024, and another wave of mass mobilization is very likely. Yet, no nationwide protests, no military trains derailed en masse by those protesting against exterminating Ukraine, no war of national resistance in Russia to stop this madness, the idiocy of which is simply very hard for a sane mind to apperceive. It's not just "Putin's war". It's a war to exterminate Ukraine supported actively by "regular Russians" poisoned by the Kremlin's Nazi propaganda of hatred and/or those participating in the extermination of Ukraine for money, which meets no resistance from those who opt towards omission. This is much deeper than just "a dictator waging a war of aggression". This is about a very large nation, in which an aggressive totalitarian regime has built its power largely on the consolidating idea of exterminating and devouring a neighboring nation.

You’re a medieval peasant farmer. You’re at the bottom rung of society—bound to the land with limited social mobility… But life isn’t all bad. Here’s what it looks like🧵

@jordanbpeterson So it is not morally correct to protest against Israel’s violence because your enemy might agree with that? Unfortunately many people listen to Jordan Peterson, when he spreads such poison.

Wake up Europe, the digital age is bypassing you. You have no Google , Amazon, Meta, Apple. You arrogantly called SpaceX a fanciful dream and it wiped out the European Space Agency. You have no Nvidia and your response to AI has been to regulate before you have anything domestic to regulate. Your car industry is about to be wiped out by the Chinese. Your biggest economy shut down nuclear out of spite and with fraud. Your capital markets have no liquidity and your startups are drowning in bureaucracy. Your border is being attacked by Russia and your defence spending will have to triple just to be where it was with US subsidy given that part of the former Soviet Union and the Eastern bloc is now part of the EU. Your economy has slumped from the world’s largest to way behind the US. Your pensions are paid by three times less people and cost five times as much as people live longer. Your infrastructure is a model for the world but is configured for rail over self drive. Your electricity grid needs half a trillion of investment to cope with planned capacity and replacements, for the switch to renewables, within a decade. There are bright spots such as pharma and your healthcare system is a model for what civilisation looks like it. But to afford it, you need to completely transform from the industrial to digital age, to reform your institutions and rout the sclerotic bureaucratic system.

Anyway speaking of dirigiste failure, here's another banger. Going from calling reusable rockets a dream to not having a space industry in 10 years. Good job guys!

1/ I’m an Israeli academic. My community is still too silent about the war in Gaza. Following my viral tweet last month, this is the updated & expanded version of how I see things based on >1000 articles and 1000s of videos/images of the war. 🧵of summary conclusions:

USDT @tether produced an estimated $6.2 billion in net income in 2023. That's 78% of the number Goldman Sachs did ($7.9bn) and 72% of Morgan Stanley's ($8.5b). They have ~100 employees. GS has 49,000. MS has 82k. Source @MaelstromFund

@KonstantinKisin Btw his arguments are flawed. Guyana should be free to cut down its whole forest and industrialise. It’s not that you get to industrialise only if you are storing carbon, this is asinine.

Seven facts about America's economy in 2024: 1) Wages are growing faster than inflation. 2) Inflation is falling faster in America than other G7 countries. 3) Middle class families aren't getting poorer, they're moving into upper classes. 4) Household debt isn't skyrocketing, it's falling relative to GDP. 5) Millennials and Gen Z aren't poorer than their parents, they're accumulating wealth faster than previous generations. 6) Jobs numbers aren't rigged, less people have multiple jobs and more people have full time jobs than before the pandemic. 7) The world isn't getting poorer, extreme poverty has declined by 90% in the last century. Demagogues and right wing populists don't want you to know these facts. They spread economic lies and amplify doomerism to convince you the system needs to be torn down. But the data tells a totally different story. Remember, decline is a choice. All of these trends can, and will, be reversed by protectionism, isolationism, and economic nationalism. Don't choose decline. Choose prosperity.

@micheleboldrin Un punto sui sussidi.
