Ok. This is gonna be a different kind of tweet for me. Idk how many of the few that follow me will see this but my aunt just got diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. She has surgery on Thursday. If you guys could just pray (or whatever you do) for my family, I’d appreciate it. Thanks

After rewatching Project Hail Mary again last night, I had this realization of why the Hail Mary’s flight felt kinda familiar

Jon Bernthal quit The Punisher once. Then Marvel asked him to write it. During the original Born Again production in 2023, Bernthal walked off set because he didn't like how Frank Castle was being written. An actor with no credited screenwriting experience looked at a Marvel paycheck and said no. Marvel retooled the entire show. Hired Dario Scardapane from the original Punisher series as showrunner. Bernthal came back. Then during filming he pitched them a standalone special. Marvel reviewed his writing samples and told him to formally pitch it. He co-wrote the screenplay with Reinaldo Marcus Green, who directed King Richard. It runs 60 minutes, the longest Marvel Special Presentation ever. It carries a TV-MA rating. He's also an executive producer. First credited writing work of his career. The line he gave in interviews: "I didn't want them to just hand it to me. They've held me accountable to every step along the way." That's three MCU projects in one year. Born Again. One Last Kill. Spider-Man: Brand New Day. He filmed the Punisher special and then walked directly onto the Spider-Man set and told Tom Holland and the director the character had to feel the same across both. The actor who had zero leverage in 2019 when Netflix canceled him now has more creative control over a Marvel character than almost any actor in the MCU's history. He got it by being willing to lose the role twice.

Transformers is for boys. Its built into the DNA. Girls can like it, but shouldn’t expect it to change just for them. Notice how no one tries this on girls shows, either. Its always boys stuff.

This is something that I feel like to this day, Transformers is extremely guilty of "But NeonMicron!! Transformers was made for boys!" Sorry if this shocks some of you, but it's not 1984 anymore, and I think female fans should feel welcome here, and represented (1/2)

What's wild is how this ever became a controversy and I know the show tried its hardest to victimize the super powered, civilian murdering terrorists but he neutralized a threat when they were surrounded by potential civilian casualties and just throwing your hands up last second after trying multiple times to kill him and injure or kill people around him doesn't mean he has to give him a chance to escape or hurt more people. As soon as you engage in open attempted and actual murder/terrorism and endanger innocent civilians you don't get to call time out when it stops going your way in the ensuing fight. Not to mention I don't know where this idea of Captain America not killing came from. I recently rewatched some of the MCU movies and Cap was killing all the time. Not just in WW2, he was kicking dudes off ships before they had a chance to say anything or even surrender to drown in the ocean because he was on mission and they were all classed as enemy combatants. And he kicked innocent mind controlled people to their deaths off the helicarrier because the film didn't want you to really think about that at the time and just needed canon fodder guard enemies to shoot at the heroes, even though they were in the same position Hawkeye was.

Project Hail Mary writer Andy Weir on social commentary in books: "I dislike social commentary. Like… I really hate it. When I’m reading a book, I just want to be entertained, not preached at by the author. Plus, it ruins the wonder of the story if I know the author has a political or social axe to grind. I no longer speculate about all possible outcomes of the story because I know for a fact that the universe of that book will conspire to ensure that the author’s political agenda is validated. I hate that." "I put no politics or social commentary into my stories at all. Anyone who thinks they see something like that is reading it in on their own. I have no point to make, and I’m not trying to affect the reader’s opinion on anything. My sole job is to entertain, and I stick to that." "To that end, I also don’t talk about my personal political opinions publicly. I don’t want readers to even know, honestly. I don’t want that in the back of their minds as they read my stuff." Is this why he has the #1 sci-fi movie in decades?

Invincible hurts me, because it has the potential to be great. It has 3 compendiums worth of comics and is a huge part of that loosely connected Imageverse. It’s a prime adaptation material. With it being a comic, it’s basically already storyboarded too. Instead, Kirkman decided to majorly cheap out on the animation, turn it into celebrity voice cameo slop, and make a bunch of baffling changes. It kills me.
