#Breaking: The worst possible news. A 6.4 earthquake hit Hatay about 30 minutes ago, one of the most damaged regions from the recent huge earthquake. It was followed by a 5.8 aftershock. Absolutely frightening.

Across Antakya, an ancient city in Turkey, thousands were struggling to make sense of an earthquake that had turned their lives inside out and left many with no home, no possessions, no memories and, for some, no future here. nyti.ms/3JSQ9K1

People living in the Middle East are not some special species that becomes more immune to tragedy the more they experience it They are humans who are suffering at levels that are almost inconceivable To believe otherwise is to justify your cold indifference

You can understand how Turkish people mobilised to send aid to earthquake hit provinces in this short video. They created a huge line to carry aid to the long truck that cannot enter the street for loading in Istanbul’s Şişli

A devastating earthquake hit Turkey-Syria & left 100,000+ homeless, in urgent need. It is very difficult for us to witness this tragedy from afar & do nothing. We’ve started a fundraiser: justgiving.com/team/turkishsc… PLEASE donate to our campaign. Your solidarity means so much to us!

#HelpTurkey Dear non-Turkish friends, please read: There has been two destructive earthquakes (magnitudes 7.8 & 7.6) in southeastern Turkey today. We do not know how many people has died or how many are under the rubbles of thousands of buildings collapsed. (1/2)

I entered the truncated title of the research paper I will present in the lab meeting -eye activity tracks speech and auditory sequence- and got this AI-generated cool image after a few attempts. Strangely, I am very impressed by it 🤔

We call it “home”, unlike Western media’s emphasis on being a tourist destination. The fact is not “of the tens of millions of tourists” but “of people”. It would not make it to the headline that way though.

Of the tens of millions of tourists from around the world who visit Turkey each year, many spend time in the area where Sunday’s bombing took place. nyti.ms/3g3mAZy
