Jalen Carpenter aka “EBKcap82” from (Mixxmobb ) OTM Shootas affiliate was killed by state police on 65th & Champlain On Wednesday night, April 15, 2026, an officer-involved shooting occurred in the 6500 block of South Champlain Avenue in Chicago's Woodlawn neighborhood. Illinois State Police (ISP) troopers shot and killed an armed suspect following a struggle. The shooting took place at approximately 10:50 p.m.. Troopers were responding to a domestic battery call that reportedly originated on I-57. Upon arriving at the 6500 block of South Champlain, officers encountered an armed individual. A struggle ensued, during which shots were fired and the suspect was struck. The suspect was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead. No officers were injured in the incident, and a firearm was recovered at the scene. Family members identified the man as 24-year-old Jalen Carpenter, a father of a 2-year-old. The ISP Division of Internal Investigation Special Agents are currently investigating the shooting.
