Nalanda University hosted an insightful lecture by Shri Prabodh Saxena on “Snapshot of Global Access Legislations and Striking Features of the Indian Right to Information Act, 2005” at the Mini Auditorium, yesterday. Drawing on his extensive administrative experience, the session offered a compelling overview of global access-to-information frameworks while situating India’s Right to Information Act, 2005 in a broader international context. Professor Sachin Chaturvedi, Vice Chancellor of Nalanda University, chaired an important session today, titled “Technology for Livelihoods, Entrepreneurship & Community Empowerment” at the conference “Transforming Tribal India Through Technology and Science – Opportunities, Aspiration, Pathways” at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. In his remarks, Professor Chaturvedi emphasised that financial inclusion must be supported by resilient digital infrastructure, capable of functioning even in the absence of reliable internet and electricity, particularly critical for remote tribal regions. He further noted that initiatives like PM Jan Dhan Yojana, complemented by Digital Public Infrastructure, would continue to expand their footprint in enabling inclusive access to technology. The session featured distinguished participants including Dr. Arun Kumar Sarma (DG, North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach (NECTAR)), Prof. Amey Karkare and Prof. Anurag Pandey (Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur), and Shri N. Irabanta Singh (Entrepreneur, Manipur), who deliberated on technology-driven pathways for inclusive growth and community empowerment.
