@DarrinKnowles1 I’ve been trying for years to get a hold of my father’s DD214. His docs were damaged in this fire. I get nothing but the runaround from the VA, local organizations and have submitted tons of paperwork. He’s now 89 with dementia and needs more help for his care. I just gave up.

Somewhere in this ash is a soldier's name. His DD-214. His discharge papers. Proof he served. The 1973 NPRC fire didn't just destroy records. It erased the service of 17 million veterans — many of whom spent the rest of their lives unable to prove they were ever there.
