🇮🇷🇺🇸 Iran has declared the Strait of Hormuz "closed until further notice.
- Closure follows U.S. seizure of Iran-linked vessels including the tanker M/T Tifani
- U.S. military confirmed another interception of an Iran-associated ship in the Indo-Pacific
- Iran says the strait will remain closed until it receives guarantees over the lifting of maritime restrictions

🇺🇸🇮🇷 2 issues stand between the world and a U.S.-Iran deal, and neither is close to being resolved. 1) Nuclear: The U.S. wants Iran to hand over its estimated 400kg of nuclear material and give up the ability to enrich more. Iran is refusing. 2) Strait of Hormuz: Iran wants sanctions relief in exchange for reopening it. The U.S. wants it open now. Even if they agree, shipping companies may not return quickly amid fears the water has been mined. The ceasefire expires soon and both sides are nowhere near yes. Source: Sky News

TRUMP ADMINISTRATION TO BEGIN REFUNDING $166B IN TARIFFS The U.S. government will start refunding up to $166 billion in Trump-era tariffs after the Supreme Court ruled the policy unlawful. From April 20, businesses can file claims through a new Customs system to recover duties paid under emergency powers. Courts found only Congress can impose tariffs, forcing the rollback. Over 330,000 importers across 53 million shipments may be eligible. Once approved, refunds—plus interest—should arrive within 60–90 days, though complex cases may take longer. Officials warn the process will be massive and complex, but payments will go directly to the businesses that originally paid.

Beyond the Vercel Breach: Lessons in AI Supply Chain Security
The recent security incident at Vercel highlights a critical shift in the threat landscape. This wasn't a failure of Vercel’s core infrastructure, but a sophisticated supply-chain attack triggered by a third-party AI tool, called Context.ai.
How did it happen?
An attacker compromised Context.ai’s Google Workspace OAuth app, gaining a foothold in a Vercel employee’s account. This allowed for lateral movement into internal environments.
The Vulnerability:
While sensitive variables are encrypted, those not explicitly marked as "sensitive" were enumerable. This distinction is now the difference between a secure deployment and a major exposure.
Action Plan if You're using Vercel
Rotate and Revoke: If your environment variables weren't flagged as "sensitive," rotate them immediately. Revoke the old keys at the source (DBs, APIs, etc.).
Audit OAuth Grants: AI productivity tools are appearing everywhere. Audit your organization's Google Workspace/Microsoft 365 for unauthorized or unnecessary OAuth grants.
Shift to "Sensitive" by Default: Treat every variable as a secret.
As we integrate more AI into our workflows, our attack surface expands. The velocity of this breach proves that security-on-by-default isn't just a best practice, it's a survival requirement.

In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage for all commercial vessels through Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open for the remaining period of ceasefire, on the coordinated route as already announced by Ports and Maritime Organisation of the Islamic Rep. of Iran.
