Back in 2018, I was working as an Analyst. It was a non-technical, repetitive job with UK shifts and occasional US shifts. Some days, my shift ended at 11 PM. Other days, I walked out of the office at 4 or 5 in the morning. The funny part? Just a year earlier, I had been one of the top coders in my college. I could literally feel my programming skills getting rusty. That scared me more than the long shifts. So every day, no matter how tired I was, I tried to spend at least two hours getting back into programming. Looking back, my job didn't make me a software engineer. Those two hours after work did.
