There are plenty of teams ahead of the #49ers in the draft with perceived needs at wide receiver. If John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan are indeed targeting one, I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to use one of those 4th-rounders to jump ahead of Buffalo, Chicago and Cleveland.

If the 49ers draft a receiver in the 1st round I wouldn’t be upset because I’d probably like the player.. BUT.. you couldn’t run the ball for sh*t. Your star back was averaging 3 yards per carry. You could barley protect your QBs. You couldn’t pressure ANYONE’S qb and your other edge guys are coming off of ACL surgery. Draft a receiver to barely utilize him because next season you only have a few under contract? Not a fan of that process.

The expectation among many NFL teams is that the 2026 draft will be one of the more trade-heavy drafts in recent memory, according to multiple league sources. Specifically, on the defensive side of the ball — EDGE, CB and LB are all strong/deep — while WR is typically considered to be the most talented offensive position. Several executives I’ve spoken with believe we’re likely to see a flurry of activity in the first half of Round 1. Additionally, because this specific draft lacks depth in the later rounds, many teams plan to pursue extra Day 2 and early Day 3 picks, per league sources.
