I hope schools are teaching kids to just sit down with codex / claude code and make stuff.

Google Senior Staff Engineer to me: “Yeah, I have no clue what Claude Code / Codex is but I hear it’s all the rage. No, I don’t really care, I just need GOOG to hit $400 and keep this job for 2-3 more years so I can retire!”

You have to be really smart to be successful in India. You can be average and succeed in the US.

Good work day, but the accomplishment today that required true optimism and execution - in a 4.5 hour span, got the 8yo from school to swim class, then piano class and a then rescheduled basketball practice and the 12yo, in between, to a surprise basketball practice; fed them dinner and snacks in between - and no one was late or cranky. Tomorrow. I'm supposed to lead a session on AI productivity, but I really just want to talk about this instead.. :-)

A year ago I became a US Citizen. This week I was invited to the White House. Spent the day jamming on ideas with @jgebbia and team. Surreal feeling. The work @ndstudio is doing is going to matter for a long time. 🇺🇸

@salgar Probably too soon for the data, I’d love to see if there is a strong correlation between age of getting phone and college performance. Lots of confounding factors, but it’d be interesting to see.

My 12 yo just had the talk with me... .. we negotiated which of his friends I'm allowed to talk to, under what circumstances, and how I'm not allowed to just "hang out" with them anymore or ask what they're upto or for school gossip. On track for my "Dad, stop embarrassing me" phase.

@RakeshSFNYC Most of his friends have watches and not phones - so I think we can likely hold that for a while...

@salgar How is the peer group looking? I don’t have kids, but I imagine that if schools ban them bell to bell and kids talk to each other face to face, there will be less peer pressure to get addicted to screens. At least during the day. 😜

Went the the movie theater last night. One of the pre-show commercials was for Anduril. Apparently we're all supposed to go out and buy military drones?

Scoop: Mark Zuckerberg is building a CEO agent to help him do his job, according to a person familiar with the project. Employees are also adopting AI agents and AI tools internally, namely My Claw and Second Brain, in a bid to speed up work, as they get graded on AI use.

Karpathy's Autoresearch pushed my vibecoded Rust chess engine AI from "expert" to a top 50 grandmaster, a #311 chess engine. It ran over 70 experiments on its own and tried to hill climb to the top ELO score it could, landing at 2718!
