Breaking News: 🚨 Bombay High Court grants bail to a hawker who allegedly killed a citizen in Andheri, Mumbai, for complaining about him to BMC. The Bombay High Court has granted bail to Vishwas Ganpat Bovane, alias Pappu, a hawker from Andheri East, who was arrested for allegedly killing Mr. ShivKumar Sharma in 2019. Sharma had complained about Bovane's illegal food stall to the BMC. The murder incident was captured on CCTV footage. Despite this evidence, the High Court granted bail because not a single witness had been examined by the lower court. The High Court noted, "He has already undergone 5 years of incarceration. The chargesheet shows 31 witnesses to be examined by the prosecution. Not a single witness has been examined, and there has been no progress in the trial, despite this Court's order dated October 16, 2023, to expedite the trial." The court further added, "The applicant has no criminal antecedents, and therefore, purely on this ground, without commenting on the merits of the case, this Court is inclined to allow the present application." Manish Sharma, son of the victim, said, "My father had submitted written complaints to the police and BMC about threats from this hawker, but the authorities did not act. We are shocked that the Hon. High Court has granted bail to the man who killed my father, despite all evidence, including CCTV footage. This is an injustice. We fear for our lives now that the man who killed my father is out on bail."
