We delivered 80,500 liters of fresh water across North Gaza
🧵(1/5)
The water crisis in North Gaza continues as most wells and water infrastructure have been completely destroyed by the Israeli occupation. As a result, families across Gaza City, Jabalia, and Beit Lahia remain fully dependent on water trucks for survival. Despite this overwhelming demand, international aid organizations and states have failed to provide concrete solutions to resolve this issue.
To fill the gap, our team at Translating Falasteen @translatingpal x The Sameer Project North campaign worked tirelessly yesterday 02.02.2025 to distribute 80,500 liters of fresh water to multiple areas across the north using 13 different trucks.

📚 [NEW BOOK]
📖 Coming soon: a new anthology co-edited by TMR editors @HalasaMalu and @JordanElgrably “Sumūd: A New Palestinian Reader” launches Jan 21st! Published by @7storiespress.
The Arabic word sumūd is often loosely translated as “steadfastness” or “standing fast.” It is, above all, a Palestinian cultural value of everyday perseverance in the face of Israeli occupation. Sumūd is both a personal and collective commitment; people determine their own lives, despite the environment of constant oppressions imposed upon them.
“Sumūd” is an anthology that celebrates the power of culture in Palestinian resistance, with selections of memoir, short stories, essays, book reviews, personal narrative, poetry, and art from The Markaz Review.
The essays, stories, poetry, art and personal narrative collected in "Sumūd: A New Palestinian Reader" is a rich riposte to those who would denigrate Palestinians’ aspirations for a homeland. It also serves as a timely reminder of culture’s power and importance during occupation and war.

We have also noticed a dramatic decrease in the amount people are donating to attend our workshops. Palestinians have to rebuild their entire society. They are returning to lands without homes. We need to be working even harder to get them money!!

CEASEFIRE DOES NOT MEAN CEASE DONATIONS!!! We are hearing that folks believe that Gazans no longer pay for food and necessities. This is not true. Most people we have spoken to have not received help from any NGO & are still relying on donations, which have slowed significantly.

People in Gaza woke up this morning to heavy rain drowning their tents and the streets. Everyone is running around trying to collect some sand and rocks to keep the tents from flying.
Most tents are leaking causing people’s blankets and few belongings to get soaked. Staying dry is a luxury for a few in Gaza right now.
Our team has been working hard since the early morning to secure the tents in Refaat Alareer camp and another group went out with 50 tarps to set them up on the street near the beach. These tents are not a part of any camp and barely get any support.

The images of babies frozen to death over the last few nights have been beyond heartbreaking. So we’ve been thinking of different ideas to avoid that from happening again. Noor from the Refaat Alareer camp bought a sewing machine today and will use torn cloth from the market that she’ll wash with the other ladies in the camp to make onesies.
We are also working with a pediatrician on a contextualized brochure in Arabic with tips and advise on how to keep babies warm. We will print those and distribute them with the onesies.
Our team is also looking for gloves and hats for babies as babies can lose a third of their body heat from their head.
The onesie in the photo is made by her for her baby Nooh who’s in the Refaat Alareer camp ❤️
Please donate to the South campaign to support us in making as many onesies as possible: chuffed.org/project/113222…
