Today is a year since I last heard from Leo. He’d been diagnosed with depression & I asked how he was doing. His reply is below. He went out later with friends & they told me how happy he seemed. Just after midnight, he took his own life. We’ll never fully know why. #grief

#youandyours an important programme re care payment. My Dad was in Royal Air Force, saved every penny all his life and we spent all of it on his care before he died. His widow, my mum now needs full time care. Their home sold to pay for it. Clock is ticking until cash runs out.

@CateMosse When my parents’ care needs were assessed they were allocated 15mins a day. I live a 4 hr drive away & work f/t have my own family etc etc and I asked how would their shopping/laundry/cleaning get done?!!

Social Care is so hard to navigate, and it’s easy to panic and feel very alone. Also, carers aren’t often allowed to do things like home help tasks, which I would argue are important aspects of Care. Dad only had a Rayburn for heat, and nobody wanted to light it! #YouAndYours

@Befuggled My understanding is this is taken off as soon as a package of care is set up through Social Services, but it is paid when care is self funded. (This is how it’s working for my parents who are in Wales.)

#youandyours Thank you for programme on "Paying for Care". So far I have not heard mention of the importance of claiming "Attendance Allowance" if the person needing care is over State Pension Age and qualifies in terms of disability. This benefit is still paid if in care home.

This is one of the best videos to ever exist for entrepreneurs, creators... I think about it often. In 2016, Pharrell Williams visited a NYU music production class to critique student songs. At the beginning you could see student "Maggie Rogers" drenched with the absolute terror of sharing this with him. Pharrell is there just trying to keep his excitement in. The guy couldn’t wait to tell her this song is the bee’s knees. After he listened to a song called “Alaska”, he explained why “I have zero, zero, zero notes for that:” 24 hours later, someone posted the clip to Reddit. It blew up and the rest is history. Grammy nominated, millions of followers etc. And Maggie responded to the Reddit thread (i'll share screenshot in the next tweet). This story I find so cool because it inspires other artists to share what they got. We all can all connect with the fear of showing our work. It ain't easy. And to have a unique POV like Maggie. Easy to copy, harder to have something unique. I’ve got a bunch of designs, creations that have never seen the light of day. This video inspires me to publish more. My point of sharing this video: Publish your art anonymously. Or publish your art proudly as yourself. Bonus points if it's one of a kind work. But publish your darn art.
