Yes. Most of the programmers I know are having the time of their lives. They have literally never had this much fun with computers before now. There is a minority that is wringing their hands and feeling miserable. I do not understand them.

Had the same reaction, tried out the whisper.cpp models and they're fine, but it's insane how fast Parakeet is. Can get a whole paragraph transcribed in a few hundred ms on my old GPU Maybe OCR could be another field with advancements? The YOLO models were already pretty nice a year ago so wouldn't even be surprised

@sam_cannas @initjean @theo I was testing out different models and finally got to Parakeet. It’s incredible. I wonder what other hidden gems I am missing for specialized uses…

So yeah that email infra we’ve spent 3 months building w/ @adam_badar_ ? Shut down on launch day 🚀 The strat: Step 1: Launch Step 2: ??? Step 3: Profit does NOT work, I repeat, does NOT WORK, if step 2 is specifically “get traction and get noticed by the ultimate cybersecurity speedrunner that’ll abuse the free tier to the moon until you get shut down by SES” Though we did handle a 1000x email volume spike for an hour with our infra usage going up by only 10%, so that basically was just a free stress test if you think about it

Still working on a lot of the core features, like a Gmail integration (which you can’t even do with a lot of the major platforms) to be able to receive and send emails programmatically, using your gmail account. I’ll be dropping some technical stuff in the coming days. 🧵 6 / 6
