I, alongside my Alberta New Democrat colleagues, would like to thank Doug Wylie for his years of service as Alberta’s Auditor General. His work has helped inform Albertans by bringing transparency to the failed privatization of DynaLife labs, reviewing CorruptCare, and auditing the restructuring of AHS. Alberta’s New Democrats recognize Doug Wylie’s contributions to Alberta and for the public good, and we wish him well in his future endeavours. albertandpcaucus.ca/news/post/nahe…

@nenshi Who is the volunteer board member and media personality that were subject to harassment and surveillance? I know for a fact you are a Muslim and Canadians do not appreciate Muslims in our political system.

Yet more coverage today about the CorruptCare scandal. Now we know that a former AHS CEO, a volunteer board member, and the journalists investigating this have been subjected to harassment and surveillance. Those journalists just won National Newspaper Awards, Canada’s equivalent of the Pulitzer Prize, for their reporting, and Carrie Tait was named Journalist of the Year. Yet the Government House Leader insulted her and compared her to Jabba the Hutt. They will not call a public inquiry. They harass those asking questions, and they insult journalists. The RCMP has raided the offices of people connected to this, and the government refused to let the Auditor General finish his investigation. His last day is tomorrow. Why is this government so eager to hide and cover up its incompetence and potential corruption? We are talking about hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars. Call a public inquiry now. theglobeandmail.com/canada/article…

Today I voted against Calgary’s proposed Water Efficiency Plan. Let me be clear: I support responsible water use, protecting our rivers, and investing in long-term infrastructure resilience. But I could not support a plan that asks residents to permanently change their behaviour before City Hall fully addresses its own system failures. Right now, Calgary is losing approximately 115 million litres of treated water every single day through leaks in the system — roughly 42 billion litres per year. Based on the City’s own residential consumption figures, that is equivalent to the annual water use of more than 260,000 Calgary households. Fixing leaks and aging infrastructure must be the top priority. The City’s own advisory group acknowledged that Calgary’s water system remains in a precarious position until critical feedermain upgrades are completed, and that leak detection, repair, monitoring, and preventative upgrades need to be prioritized. I also remain concerned about:
• vague timelines and unclear performance targets for reducing water loss,
• a history of approved infrastructure projects being delayed or rolled forward year after year,
• the fairness and practicality of proposed tiered water rates,
• and the possibility that permanent restrictions on residents become normalized while the City continues to struggle with core infrastructure delivery. Calgarians stepped up during the water main crisis. People conserved water when it truly mattered, and I believe voluntary conservation during emergencies makes sense. But permanent behavioural restrictions and additional costs on residents should not come before measurable accountability from the City on fixing the infrastructure it already owns. My position is simple:
Get the basics right first.
Fix the leaks.
Repair and replace aging infrastructure.
Improve accountability and transparency.
Then evaluate what additional measures are truly necessary. That is why I voted no today.

Pierre Poilievre said on CTV News that Mark Carney owns Brookfield. It was an absolute bald faced lie told on national Television that went unchecked. Since @CTVNews won’t correct the record we will. MARK CARNEY DOES NOT OWN BROOKFIELD. Pierre Poilievre is a disgusting liar.

Uh oh, seps....a new poll shows Alberta's separation push is clearly failing badly. Janet Brown's latest research reveals that only 27% of Albertans would vote to leave Canada in a referendum, while a strong 67% would choose to stay. These numbers have barely budged from last year, even with noisy campaigns from separatist groups like Stay Free Alberta. This proves how weak and unsuccessful the movement really is. The vast majority of Albertans want to remain part of our strong, united Canada, which delivers major benefits to the province through shared resources, interprovincial trade, and vital national programs. Even among frustrated high earners facing costs, support for separation isn't a majority. Premier Smith treads carefully on the issue, but REAL Albertans clearly value staying together as one country. Canada is so much stronger when we stand united. These brutally flat poll numbers confirm that separatism isn't gaining any ground at all. #canpoli #Alberta

@coreyhoganyyc Great NEWSPEAK! So Orwellian, so much support for Calgarians, why don’t you check your government’s website on Federal funding per capita and tell me Albertans are treated fairly. Just brainwashing and if you keep repeating your selves SOME Albertans will believe you!

One year ago I was first elected to serve the people of Calgary Confederation and it has been an incredible honour to serve my constituents and my country. It is also an incredible responsibility. The world is as uncertain as it has been in my lifetime - Wars, trade disputes, climate change, misinformation and democratic backsliding to name but a few challenges. But through these tumultuous times, Canada has persevered – in a way that seemed far from certain a short year ago. Under the leadership of Mark Carney, trade is diversifying. After twenty new trade and security deals, we have seen non-U.S. exports climb 40%(!) in one year. Housing is becoming more affordable. House prices are down 20%. Rents are down 9%. An MOU with Alberta has meant durable climate action, new energy infrastructure. We’ve moved the effective price on carbon from $20 to $130, we’ve locked in methane reduction and we’ve created a consensus that lets us build on what has already become record oil and gas production this year. Wages are outpacing inflation. In fact, inflation has been within band the entire time Mark Carney has been Prime Minister. Canada has the highest foreign direct investment in 18 years. On a per person basis, it is the highest in the G7 and twice as high as the next highest country (the U.S.). We’ve strengthened our military. Military spending has hit our 2% NATO target for the first time in decades – and is well up from a low of under 1% of GDP in 2014-15. We’ve strengthened our economy. We’ve accelerated billions of dollars in major projects, coordinated out of a major project office headquartered in Calgary. We have supported affordability and opportunity, community and Canadian culture. I’ve been proud to announce affordable housing, attainable housing, cultural centres and so much more infrastructure for Calgary. But there’s so much more to do. More to do on affordability. More to do on safety. More to do on economic opportunity. More to do to strengthen Canada's independence. More to do to combat separatism. A year ago my election signs read: “Confederation is worth fighting for.” I believe that with every fibre of my body. I know colleagues throughout the House of Commons do too. The 45th Parliament was elected at an important time for Canada. I remain committed to working every day to build a stronger Canada on behalf of the people of Calgary Confederation. Thank you for the opportunity to serve – it has been the privilege of a lifetime. CMJ

I’m ready to fight like hell for this country, and against anyone trying to tear it apart. The richest man in the world wants Canada to become the 51st state and is now amplifying Alberta separatism. So let’s ask the question: Who is funding this movement? Albertans deserve to know.

@sam_quantz_Sr @IrvingShipbuild @CoastGuardCAN They've built 6 ASOP ships for the RCN within the last 6 years before this one for the CCG. The first was launched in 2020 and the final one last year. That's a quick rollout for the size and scope of the project and they've now started on the destroyers.

The launch of the AOPS 7 is quickly approaching. The first AOPS for @CoastGuardCAN will soon be rolled onto a barge and towed into the Bedford Basin. Introducing and providing a new icebreaking capability for the CCG, this ship is proudly built by Canadians, for Canadians.
