@BehaviourTree In Offline mode client runs the server, but I'm not sure I'd ship the Offline mode. This specific game is designed to live on even when you shut down your computer, and you'd be able to join and pick up where you left off on your phone, or have your friends join; or stream.

@samafshari I mean you can still desync by lag my question was what the game made to compensate for it. Why go for a remote server instead of the client being the server?

@BehaviourTree Correct, It's entirely client/server, so no desyncs. Movements have standard client-side prediction with velocity. The only exception is your own movements are forced on the server by your client. It adds the risk of slight cheating and teleportation, which doesn't matter here.

@samafshari Ah you got a remote server instead of one of the clients being the server? How do you handle desync or lag spikes?

🤠 Picture-in-picture Tamagotchi style farming: Observe your cute little farmer buddies doing their thing while you're working and doing your thing. 🐸 Plus: Friends can join in and you can farm together. 🐮

Cross-platform multiplayer farming is REAL and it looks like THIS 👀 Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Web. Farm alone, with friends, or employ minions. Start on your computer and pick up where you left off on the go on your phone. #ScreenshotSunday #GameDev #IndieGame

This Saturday I cloned the C&C Generals repo and replaced its direct network transport layer with my own custom code so that instead of having to connect via IP, it connects to my matchmaking and relay server and all data is streamed via that server. Now there's no need for firewalls, NATs, hole punching and so on. I can run my build of Generals from anywhere and with zero configuration I can play a multiplayer game with someone else using the same build.

This by design won't work. EU is not a country, and laws have to be implemented at country level. This essentially means all countries have to change their laws, and add some interfaces to this unknown new thing. Since all countries have to change their laws, it makes more sense if they go ahead and change their existing company structure and implement simplified company registration anyway, without EU-INC. It's redundant. and it won't work.

🚨𝘽𝙍𝙀𝘼𝙆𝙄𝙉𝙂: European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen unveiled EU–INC, a new framework that lets you launch a company in 48 hours for under €100 Starting a company across the EU today = 27 legal systems, 60+ company structures 🤯 That might be about to change… The European Commission just introduced 𝗘𝗨 𝗜𝗻𝗰., a new optional corporate framework designed to make Europe actually function like one market. Here’s what stands out: → Set up a company in 48 hours → Cost: < €100 → Fully online, no minimum capital → One single framework across all EU countries → Easier share transfers & fundraising → EU-wide employee stock options (huge for talent) Especially the EU-wide stock option plans, taxed only when employees actually sell (instead of when granted) is huge. This makes it far easier for startups to attract and retain top talent, finally putting Europe closer to the US playbook. Source/More info: ec.europa.eu/commission/pre… In short: This is Europe trying to compete with the simplicity of a Delaware C-Corp 🇺🇸 And honestly… it’s long overdue. For years, European founders had 2 choices: 1. Stay local and deal with fragmentation 2. Move to the US to scale 𝗘𝗨 𝗜𝗻𝗰. is trying to remove that trade-off. If executed well, this could be one of the most important structural changes for European startups in decades. What do you think?

@MrJakobLaichDev Back in the day I used to mod C&C a lot. This is to move forward to a proper RTS, but it's better to go step by step and a sandbox game doesn't need the balance a C&C requires.

@samafshari an RTS with farming and a frog character, that is not a combo I expected but it works. the C&C-INI inspired definition language is a cool approach too, how did you get this idea?

Should you use Unity or Godot for a 2d platformer? Neither. Create your level and content in Ed, export, then use Copilot/Claude to read Ed content files and Monogame/SDL for the framework. I always got the question: Does Ed export to [X]. Irrelevant.
