Two new positive test results for COVID-19 have been announced by the Ketchikan EOC. Neither individual has a history of recent travel. Both had been in close contact to persons who were previously reported as testing positive to COVID-19. Total case number now stands at 11.

A third positive test result for COVID-19 today has been announced by the Ketchikan Emergency Operations Center this evening. Ketchikan now has a total of nine confirmed positive results.

This after three new cases reported today in Ketchikan, bringing the total to 6.

State of Alaska is closing public and private schools through May 1. “Students will receive instruction by distance delivery methods,” states Mandate 8. All after school activities are being suspended during that time.

In addition groups, congregations larger than 10 are not allowed, and if there are gatherings less than 10, six feet spacing is required, according to Gov. Dunleavy

At state briefing tonight DHSS Commissioner Adam Crumm announced a health mandate specific to #Ketchikan and Fairbanks closing all day spas, nail salons, barbershops, and massage and tattoo businesses effective March 21 at 8 a.m.

On this issue last night, Ketchikan City and Borough emergency manager told the city council, “According to our attorneys, right now they’re advising us that we’re unable to do that due to federal regulations.”

A third positive test result for COVID-19 has been reported in Ketchikan. The individual — an employee of the Ketchikan Gateway Borough who works at the White Cliff Building — ‘was a close contact of the first identified positive case in Ketchikan,' according the KTN EOC.
