TIGMA Yesterday marked the end of the “Larkins Chasing 85 College Football Tour”. I would like to thank all of you who have been along for the ride as my family and I used our social media platforms to support #85 and keep our friends and family in the loop on how things were going for @Dlarks08 . The support and love for David and the new @AppState_FB fans created has been so cool to see. Thank you all! The Tour brought my family and me to all parts of our country, stretching from South Florida up to West Virginia, out west as far as Idaho, and back to the south to Texas, and so many parts in between. It also brought us so many wonderful friendships that will all endure the test of time. It was a truly amazing experience that we will never forget, and I have thanked David for this many times. So TIGMA. “Today I Give My All For App State!” This is App State’s slogan, and every player taps that sign every time on their way to the field. Yesterday, David gave everything he had in that game to his team and coaching staff. By most accounts, it was the best game of his college career. How cool is it to be able to watch your son embody that slogan and deliver the one thing every coach asks for but doesn't always get: Just give me all you have! From my biased eyes, he did every time out but he especially did so in the biggest moment of the entire season last night! In that light, Ive been looking for the words for the feels and tears the last 24 hours or so, and I keep coming back to the word proud. Proud of him grinding through long practices and camps, injuries, surgeries, coaching changes, loss of a teammate, Hurricane Helene, loss of a former coach/mentor, etc etc. All he needed was a chance to shine, and man did he over the last month. Proud Dad over here. Unfortunately, the team came up short, and the season and David’s college career are now in the books. Man, does it end fast when it ends! David will graduate in a couple of weeks with a second bachelor’s degree from App State’s Business School. I can't wait to see where the path takes him from here!
