@XeroGround has just published my article on the six ways in which citizenship rights were pushed back in India, in the last six weeks. A shorter version in Bangla, documenting Five backward steps, was published in Kalantar last week. The link to the English article is below.

Statistics tell us how many. We want to know how it feels. 🧠📉 Behind every "deleted" checkmark on a voter list is a person facing uncertainty, anxiety, and a sense of exclusion. At Sabar Institute, we are launching a state-wide rapid survey to document the mental health toll of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise across West Bengal. We aren't just looking for data collectors; we are looking for volunteers who want to help us bridge the gap between numbers and the human story. 🤝 Join us as a Volunteer. Help us document the psychological impact of disenfranchisement in your community. 📍 Open to all districts of West Bengal. 🔗 Register here: forms.gle/Bjz1wNXL8oyooX… #WestBengal #MentalHealth #SocialJustice #SIR2026 #VolunteerIndia

Suddenly disenfranchised voters told that appeals not before SDO office but in a college. See how they desperately run to new venue. For the poor, the Voter Identity ties them to govt benefits. Such scenes would melt the heart of even Marie Antoinette! x.com/SMitra_/status…

@RailwaySeva @drmhowrah I have done that. The person in the seat next to me is also writing a formal complaint. Now the AC is back on, but switches off every five minutes, while the electric connection in the plug points also disappears.

@JillFilipovic @Kasparov63 India, Pakistan, Bangladesh are neither meant for one race, nor do only people of one religion reside there. All of these are multilingual, multiethnic, multiracial countries with many religions practised there.

Fair enough, but does anyone who makes this point every ague that Pakistan, Bangladesh, Algeria, Jordan, Egypt, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Yemen, Iran, and a long list of others don't have a right to exist?
Jacobin@jacobin

Zohran Mamdani: “I would not recognize any state’s right to exist with a system of hierarchy on the basis of race or religion... And part of that is because I’m an American who believes in the importance of equal rights being enshrined in every single country.”
