TAPPS Division II - District 4
Monsignor Kelly Catholic HS – Beaumont @KellyCatholicFB
Head Coach: Michael Long
📝 2025 Outlook
Coach Long enters his fourth year of his second stint at Kelly Catholic with both challenges and opportunities ahead. The Bulldogs return 16 starters and one of TAPPS’s most experienced linebacker corps, but they’ll be without their starting quarterback, junior Casen Reedy @casen_reedy4, who will miss the season after undergoing Tommy John surgery over the summer. The strength of this team lies on defense, anchored by standout linebacker Sam Bevilacqua @sambev8. While the Bulldogs face an uphill battle in a tough district, their defensive core and experienced roster provide a foundation to remain competitive if the offense can adapt quickly.
🔥 Things to Like
🔹 Defensive leadership & talent: LB Bevilacqua @sambev8 is a proven leader and tone-setter for the defense, backed by the physicality of DE Cade Berry @CadeBerry5050 and the coverage ability of DB Jackson Maloney @jackson7malone_. Together, they form the backbone of one of the state’s toughest front-sevens.
🔹 All-purpose threat: Senior WR/DB Eshawn Hollman @whoisEshawn is the Bulldogs’ most dynamic athlete. His speed, agility, and ability to line up in multiple spots make him a constant big-play threat on offense, while his defensive skill set adds value in the secondary.
🔹 Veteran roster: With eight starters back on both sides of the ball, Kelly Catholic has the experience and familiarity to compete — even with key position changes — and can lean on that cohesion in close games.
👀 Things to Watch
🔹 QB transition: With Reedy sidelined, that shifts the offense to sophomore Lathan Weaver @LathanWeaver34, who is making the move from wide receiver to quarterback. Weaver brings athleticism and leadership potential but will be taking varsity snaps for the first time under center. His development and comfort in the new role will heavily influence the offense’s ability to sustain drives.
🔹 Adapting without star power: Graduation losses and Reedy’s injury mean new leaders must emerge. How well Hollman and the defensive standouts carry the load will determine the Bulldogs’ ceiling.
🔹 Depth in the trenches: The Bulldogs’ ability to protect Weaver and open lanes for Hollman will be tested against physical district opponents.

🚨 2025 Season Preview 🚨
Beaumont Kelly Catholic
TAPPS D2, District 4
Team: @KellyCatholicFB@sambev8@LathanWeaver34@jackson7malone_@casen_reedy4@CadeBerry5050
The Bulldogs have struggled in recent years, and unfortunately, it looks like this season could follow a similar path. After finishing last year with a 1-9 record, the team lost several key players to graduation and transfers, which will make it tough to bounce back. To make matters worse, starting quarterback Casey Reedy sustained an offseason injury and is expected to miss the entire season.
However, it's not all doom and gloom for the Bulldogs. There’s reason for optimism, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. The linebacker corps is one of the best in the state, with Sam Bevilaqua, Cade Berry, and Jackson Maloney all returning. This trio brings a mix of size, skill, and experience that could help keep the team competitive in tough matchups.
At quarterback, the Bulldogs will likely turn to sophomore Lathan Weaver, who has the athleticism and potential to fill the big shoes left by Reedy. While it’s a tough ask for a young player, Weaver should be more than capable of stepping up.
On offense, senior Eshawn Hollman is the player to watch. He’s arguably the most electrifying talent on the roster and will be one of the primary weapons for the Bulldogs. Hollman has the potential to play at the next level, and this season should be his stage to shine as he prepares for his future beyond high school.
While there are plenty of challenges ahead, the Bulldogs have a solid foundation to build on, and with the right adjustments, they may just surprise some people this season.

Sam Bevilacqua (‘26, TX) picks up a couple of base knocks, here’s those swings. Really aggressive and hands driven swing to get the barrel on if and drive it for the base knock. Some hand speed/bat speed. @Texas_PG@PG_Uncommitted#WWBA
