Was a flick merchant like Rogers but has matured into a very good all round midfielder. Would take him over Rogers if the squad was today. Konsa. Nervous Nerys for weeks. Would have started first World Cup game 4 months ago. Now on the plane but cover only. Much better second half tonight. Watkins. Have gone to bat for him when others would have dropped him but he's nowhere near Kane backup level right now. May struggle to get on the plane. A fit Calvert Lewin gives a whole lot more reliable front play.

@FergieStandards Real world you go and get the best available. Carrick isn’t the best available. In an ideal world you get Enrique, Simeone or whoever else takes your fancy. Point is, in both worlds, Carrick isn’t the answer. Done a great job but needs to earn his stripes elsewhere.

🚨 JUST IN: City are the current frontrunners to sign another of United’s leading midfield targets, Elliot Anderson. Nottingham Forest are thought to want at least £100m and their prospects of getting that will be boosted if they avoid relegation. United rate Anderson highly but such a fee could be a significant obstacle. Sandro Tonali was high on their midfield shortlist but the chances of a move are believed to be receding as they assess other options. @DougieCritchley The big issue is the award covers all domestic competitions and Bruno has played one game a week all season, whilst Arsenal, United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle players have had to perform with a huge volume of football compared to any United player.

Player Of The Year for me… Isn’t the best player on the title winning team or the most important player on the title winning team… It’s the best individual player across an entire season. For me it’s Bruno Fernandes. 18 League assists is remarkable!
