Would it be unethical to try to get them to talk to it? À la the Victorian child and the Dorito?

IP is a wider umbrella than copyright protection, I’m guessing there’d be basically no change in treatment for software created at businesses, but could be some implications for AI-written portions of OSS projects with restrictive licenses but that’s a pretty small slice of the pie

@MorePerfectUS Does that mean AI written code isn’t considered IP either?

AI-created art isn't eligible for copyright protection, after the Supreme Court chose not to review a lower court ruling. In 2022 the Copyright Office said images without “human authorship,” don't qualify for copyright protection — this was affirmed in 2023 by a district court.

@ryxcommar @buccocapital Idk I think this is more about when vibecoding might eclipse SLAs and become something execs can sell to teams/boards. Seemingly, orgs have been more interested in “solutions” (~solutions~) than rolling their own anything

@buccocapital I mean I guess I see how this happens, but OTOH Snowflake is expensive slow garbage and now you can vibecode egress and ingress to an actually good database via Iceberg tables. Guess they're hoping their customers are too dumb and lazy to do this. Maybe most of them are.

Snowflake highlighting that companies are deleting software vendors and rebuilding workflows on top of their data in Snowflake Not sure they actually win this opportunity long-term, but interesting nonetheless

If someone decides to contact a representative here: Call >> email/signature >> nothing, emails and signing petitions are solid, calls are great — they’re treated as different metrics by politicians, and since they’re not exclusive, ideal is to do both. If you’re mentioning MN specifically to a senator, plz plz ask them to vote No on the bill opening mining rights in the Boundary Waters natl park (BWCA) as well. The White House is trying to declare open season on Minnesota, and one of the ways they’re doing that is to let a Chilean mining company with a terrible track record for pollution mine lithium to sell to China in an otherwise untouched national park. Obviously takes a backseat to political murders & ICE out, but we’re catching sh!t from all sides, anything helps.

You should not be surprised that ICE killed another person. Basically everyone on here with a brain could see the fact pattern. You probably should be angry, and you should use this anger to vote them out, contact your representatives, and KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.
