@samikaipa Working at IBM ruined me for acronyms. That's what you get working at a company whose name is literally an acronym :). Too often, there and elsewhere, I find folks who feel smug using an acronym like it's some sort of wisdom. That said, how is #3 a shortcoming?

Acronyms are used when… 1. Your memory is not great 2. Your pronunciation is not adequate 3. You need to communicate quickly Ergo… Acronyms are an acknowledgement of human shortcomings

@norootcause It was truly fun. But anywhere you assemble smart, motivated folks who passionately work on something bigger than themselves that is also potentially lucrative captures that same feeling. Today AI and soon robotics have that.

I think it would have been cool to work at companies like DEC, Sun, SGI, and Cray in their heydays.
