the hard limit of adult animation is no one is pushing the actual form of animation they're just covering slightly darker topics.

It's what I love about KOG, we can have an adult show that's both gritty and dystopian, and also whimsical It's all about highlighting that huge class divide after all-

@yopin4l @YT_BatFang25 @rhizomaton Form-pushing animation in an adult way would be something like Anomalisa. Using animation to tell a story and express ideas that are too complicated for the majority of an underage audience to pick up on.

@yopin4l @YT_BatFang25 @rhizomaton True, but the form of animation is still ruled by this framework of 'animation=cartoon=children'. I liked KOG, but it's just a subversion of family-centred animation - it still hasn't escaped its roots into true, adult maturity

@YT_BatFang25 @rhizomaton I think it's more about pushing the storytelling that animation allows to a more adult, mature form. I think of Blue Eyed Samurai, where they cut between her backstory and a kabuki play and let you, the audience, see the clear parallels

@yoboielmo6600 @Yuji1388683 @G0ffThew I more meant that the way Togashi sets it up, i assumed ten, zetsu and ren would play a much bigger part, but when you can do literally anything you can imagine with hatsu it kind of makes the rest of the system obsolete
