🧵for new residents and students: Over the last year, I've done 9 threads on different suture materials. Included here are links to each of these. I'll leave this 'pinned' for now. They are: Prolene, silk, Vicryl, PDS, Ethibond, Nylon, Monocryl, Chromic, and barbed sutures.

@rbarbosa91 I was always taught to do a B-Lynch with #1 chromic. I would worry about hernia risk through the loops (as the uterus decreases in size) with a longer lasting suture like PDS.

Addendum: Back to the large ones for a minute. #2 PDS exists and comes on a few different needles. It may be used to approximate ribs after thoracotomy (though I use Vicryl), and possibly has ob/gyn and orthopedic uses (I’m less familiar with these - B-Lynch suture maybe?)

🧵of 🧵's. We've done chromic...now for one of the most versatile of all sutures...polydioxanone or PDS. As usual, we'll go over some properties, a little history, and some of what each of the sizes are used for.

A random unattended 7yo at the park told me and my son that gay people are the devil and are going to hell. My son scoffed, but the boy said it was true because God said so. I told him parents made up God to make their kids do what they want. His eyes got so big.

@SachaPfeiffer I’m an #obgynresident. Your piece today seemed to imply that resident abortion training is all or nothing, and implied that it’s being forced on people. There’s a lot of nuance in the conversation that was missed, which was a bummer.

@orneryscientist My favorite part is that, at my hospital, they made this change months ago but at first only for the residents. Now everyone else is finally going through it. For no clear reason… we’re just test dummies? Idk.

So finally, we can define Roganism: —Contradictory, provably incorrect "facts" —Arrogance about experience and ability —Audacity that said experience is equivalent to expertise —Question/believe his authority? "How stupid are my listeners? I'm not an authority, I'm a comedian!"

My pièce de résistance on Rogan. I've made sense of his senselessness. After 50+ hours of research and facepalms, I can finally explain the adolescent contradiction that is Roganism to anyone that wants to hear it. As always, video clips and transcript screenshots will follow.

Until you have saved a dying woman from hemorrhaging or diagnosed a baby with no brain, a lethal fetal anomaly, you shouldn’t get to say what a woman can/can’t do. Abortions are healthcare between the Obstetrician & the patient. Call & say no to SB5 & HB146!
