It’s official. America, Russia, Hungary - want to weaken Europe, destroy EU & NATO, by dismembering and bankrupting us, polarising our societies. Brexit and Trump are part of a continuum. So what are we going to do ? Keep letting them take bites off us - or fight back hard.

@commons96055467 The addiction to guns is also deeply unsettling. What's that all about? Levels of gun violence in US are much higher than elsewhere. Time to say no to guns and glorification of violence in movies.

I woke up this morning questioning my every moral standings. I found myself in an absolute panic. It’s not about trump anymore, it’s about us. Are we the most immoral of people in the world to allow this to continue? Trump should be dragged out of the White House.

@commons96055467 Why not repeat the No Kings protests, every single Saturday, week after week, build up momentum and crowds. Until it's undeniable, and everyone joins. Everyone can do something, however small. Talk to a swing voter, write to a congressperson, help someone in need.

So turns out the “London is collapsing” narrative isn’t grassroots at all. It’s being pumped out by bots, content farms, and foreign-aligned networks then laundered through politicians and media. Manufacture the fear. Repeat it enough. Turn it into policy.

@PoliticalStacy Did it become undeniable to you that when there is no system or expertise, things stop working, there's more corruption and chaos, the rich and powerful benefit, law and order is undermined.. Perhaps that's why so many reject the damage inflicted by your Trump at home and abroad

I used to believe Donald Trump was simply an outstanding President. But then I watched in real time as the mainstream media, the FBI, intelligence agencies, Big Tech, and the entire Washington establishment joined forces in an unprecedented campaign to destroy one single man. The constant lawfare, the two impeachments, the endless Russia collusion hoax, the Mar-a-Lago raid, the gag orders, the efforts to remove him from the ballot, the attempts to bankrupt him and throw him in prison... all of it aimed at stopping him from ever returning to power. That's when it became undeniable to me: No one gets this level of coordinated, hysterical opposition unless they pose a genuine existential threat to the system... The system that we all know is corrupt and broken. Ordinary politicians don't trigger that kind of coordinated panic. At that moment, I stopped thinking of him as just a great President. He is the greatest of all time.

I thought for a long time about whether I should say anything, but it is time to appeal to reason and truth. We are friends. And on this app, misinformation gets pushed in waves. MAGA hears a line from the top dictator, repeats it, and suddenly ignorance gets dressed up as analysis. The fact is that the tweet below is right in a major way. Europe has not been freeloading off the United States. Europe and Canada spent a combined $486 billion on defence in 2024 alone. European NATO states now buy a huge share of their major weapons from the U.S. In 2020 to 2024, 64% of their major arms imports came from the United States. For the 2021 to 2025 period, Europe accounted for 38% of total U.S. arms exports, the largest regional share. NATO allies also represented around $20 billion in U.S. foreign military sales in fiscal 2022 and $24 billion in fiscal 2023. That is not charity from Washington, oh boy no. That is a revenue stream for Washington. The U.S. presence in Europe is not some selfless protective act. It is also about projection, logistics, reach, and cost savings. In early 2025, the U.S. had nearly 84,000 servicemembers in Europe, and NATO common funding continues to pay for infrastructure upgrades at bases used by U.S. forces there. NATO has even committed $385 million for upgrades tied to AND FOR U.S. special weapons storage and related facilities in Europe. Those bases put American forces closer to the regions where Washington wants to operate, and they reduce the strategic cost of doing so. And the most important point is this: if the U.S. loses Europe as a customer, staging ground, and political-military platform, it loses tens of billions of dollars in arms business, plus strategic positioning it has benefited from for decades. The only time NATO Article 5 has ever been invoked was after the 11 September attacks on the United States. So the myth that America endlessly subsidises everyone else while getting nothing back is propaganda. In reality, Europe has been helping finance the system, buying the weapons, hosting the bases, and sustaining the architecture from which the U.S. itself profits. I still believe a united Western world is worth striving for. I am not falling for the division pushed by this cult, and neither should you. Trumpism will hopefully not be around for long. What is important to note, though, is that Europe has at most benefited from NATO indirectly, while the United States has benefited directly over and over again. So do not let MAGA propaganda lull you into believing otherwise. Peace.

Trump told MAGA he'd make America great again. Instead, thanks to his insults and threats, he's making it small by shrivelling American influence across Europe. 1. MILITARY ACCESS: DOORS CLOSING Spain shut its bases and airspace to US war operations. Italy turned a US military plane away mid-flight. Austria, France and Switzerland blocked US aircraft from their skies. Poland refused to hand over its Patriot missiles. 2. ARMS SALES: COLLAPSING Europe is rearming fast and buying European. Germany's new weapons orders are 92% European suppliers. Washington formally complained. Europe shrugged. 3. CONSUMER LOYALTY: GONE In Denmark, an app that flags American products hit No.1 in the App Store. Downloads up 867% in a week. Europeans aren't just angry. They're organised. 4. INVESTMENT: FLEEING Dutch pension funds dumped €30 billion in US investments last year. Across Europe, 63% of investors have quietly reduced their American exposure. 5. TRADE DEALS: BYPASSED The EU signed deals with India and Mercosur in January covering 2 billion people. The Americans weren't at the table. They weren't invited. 6. TALENT: LEAVING USA University enrolment from overseas dropped 17% in a single year. European universities are offering "scientific asylum" to American professors. 7. TOURISM: DYING Out of 184 countries, the US was the only one to lose tourists last year. Down $12.5 billion. Europeans are booking longer routes just to avoid American soil. Shrivelling influence, fewer allies, less trust, less trade. and less relevance. There's nothing great about that.

Moving the US military out of west European bases will be costly, slow and complicated. These bases are large and sophisticated. Wherever we move to has to be equally sophisticated and secure. A good place to start is moving from Spain to Morocco, where the US used to have a SAC base. Morocco has several modern facilities, including our former bases. Morocco is already a designated non-NATO major ally (so is Bahrain), is a member of the Abraham Accords, and is pro-western. They’re also a tolerant and beautiful country. The US has options. If Spain, France and Italy won’t help us, we can find better places to go.

Who's been helping who on security and stability over the years? Could it possibly be that America benefited from its allies and the stability created by alliances?
Very Brexit Problems@VeryBrexitProbs

MAGA thinks Europe can't defend itself without America. Here's what they don't know. 1. France and Britain have 515 nuclear warheads and 8 nuclear missile submarines. 2. European defence spending hit €481 billion this year. That's more than Russia and China spend combined. The EU's ReArm Europe plan is mobilising another €800 billion. 3. European countries have over 1.7 million active troops. Russia has 1.3 million. 4. EU and UK air forces fly over 1,400 combat aircraft. Their navies have five aircraft carriers, over 60 submarines, more than 120 frigates and destroyers. 5. Europe has over 6,000 artillery pieces and that's before the biggest rearmament wave since the Cold War. Poland alone is adding 212 new howitzers. 6. The British SAS invented modern special forces. The US copied them to build Delta Force. From France's Foreign Legion to Poland's GROM, Europe's elite units are among the deadliest on earth. 7. Europe already has joint military commands ready to fight. The UK leads a 10-nation rapid reaction force across Northern Europe and the Arctic. Finland alone can mobilise 900,000 trained reservists all prepared to fight in arctic conditions. 8. Europe has its own satellite navigation (Galileo), its own defence programme (75 active projects) and is building its own rapid deployment force. The "helpless Europe" story was never about defence. It was about keeping Europe dependent and buying American weapons, relying on American intelligence, following American foreign policy. Thanks to Trump, that now ends.

Trump thinks Europe needs NATO more than America does. His generals know better. Here’s what the US loses without it. 1. Its European base network Over 50 US military bases across Europe housing 84,000 troops. Ramstein in Germany is the largest US air base outside America and the hub for every US operation in the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia. RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk is home to the only US F-35 wing in Europe, the same base the F-15 shot down over Iran last week flew from. These aren’t gifts to Europe. They are America’s front door to the rest of the world. 2. The geography it can never replace The US sits thousands of miles from every major conflict zone on earth. Europe puts American forces within striking distance of the Middle East, North Africa, the Sahel, the Arctic and Russia’s western border. No aircraft carrier replaces an entire continent. Without European bases America is projecting power across two oceans from a single landmass. That is not a superpower posture, it is an island. 3. Its intelligence network GCHQ, MI6 and European intelligence agencies feed directly into US operations. Five Eyes gives America more global surveillance reach than any other arrangement in history. Lose NATO and that pipeline closes. 4. Two allied nuclear powers The UK and France have independent nuclear arsenals. Outside NATO those weapons are no longer guaranteed to be on America’s side. That is two fewer nuclear powers in your corner. 5. Its arms export market European NATO members are America’s biggest weapons customers. F-35s, Apaches and Patriot missiles, hundreds of billions in contracts. If Europe goes it alone they buy European. Lockheed Martin and Boeing lose their biggest export market overnight. 6. The dollar’s global dominance NATO helps underpins the security order that keeps allies trading in dollars and holding dollar reserves. Collapse that alliance and the shift to alternative currencies accelerates. No single advantage matters more to American prosperity. 7. A trillion-dollar insurance policy 31 other countries have a legal obligation to fight for America if attacked. The only time Article 5 was ever triggered was to defend the US after 9/11. Over 1,100 allied soldiers died in Afghanistan answering that call. No other country on earth has anything close to this. 8. Its seat at the head of the table NATO makes America the leader of the free world. Without it the US is just another big country with a big army stranded between two oceans with no allies. China and Russia would celebrate for a decade. Without NATO, America doesn’t gain independence. It loses an empire.

A few weeks ago I had a conversation with an American who genuinely believed Europe and Canada would help the United States in its war with Iran. I asked him why he thought that, given that Trump had spent months threatening to annex Canada and seize Greenland. He went quiet. Then he said he had never heard of any of that. Not that he disagreed. Not that he thought it was exaggerated. He had simply never encountered the information. It had never arrived. This is worth pausing on. Because in every other functioning democracy on earth, that information would have been impossible to avoid. Not because Europeans are smarter or more curious. But because of how news works outside the United States. The BBC and The Daily Telegraph hate each other. Le Monde and Le Figaro disagree on everything. Aftenposten and Dagbladet have been arguing since before most of their readers were born. But they all cover the same events. A threat to annex Canada is not a left-wing story or a right-wing story. It is a story. It runs everywhere. You hear it on the radio driving to work. You see it on the newsstand. Your colleague mentions it at lunch. Facts are not a channel you choose. They are the weather. You step outside and they hit you. The only media ecosystems on earth that work differently are not political opposites of each other. They are North Korea and Russia. Not because the content resembles MAGA content. But because the architecture is the same. In all three cases, outside information does not get filtered or reinterpreted. It gets blocked at the door. A completely parallel reality is built inside, maintained by repetition, and sealed from correction. This is why the rest of the world does not just disagree with MAGA voters on foreign policy. It finds them genuinely disorienting to talk to. Not offensive. Disorienting. Like speaking to someone who is absolutely certain the building has two floors when you are standing on the third. Which brings us to today’s masterclass. And this screenshot says everything. A Trump supporter posted: “Absolute masterclass by Trump. He got the Strait open without any help from Europe and without any boots on the ground.” That post was written on the same day a refinery on Lavan Island burned for hours after the ceasefire was announced. On the same day Iran’s own official statement read “this does not signify the termination of the war.” On the same day Iran kept its toll system, its uranium program, its protocol over the strait, and walked away with sanctions relief and reconstruction aid. The post is not stupid. It is not written by a bad person. It is written by someone who received a completely different set of facts than the rest of the world did. And from inside that information environment, with only that data, the conclusion is perfectly logical. That is what makes it so unsettling. It is not ignorance. It is a sealed universe, doing exactly what sealed universes do. Gandalv / @Microinteracti1

NATO and the UN are useless. We bankroll everything and get nothing out of either. If NATO won’t back us now on this small endeavor, imagine if something major or more difficult were to arise? Europe is largely a failed continent that has foolishly imported the third world and is now quickly becoming it. Weakness has become their defining characteristic. Also, they are rude and pompous for no reason. Let’s take all that money we waste on these failed endeavors and invest into our own country.
