The other day I said in Slack “sometimes you need to lie to tell a deeper truth” and now I feel like I’m ready for management.

1/ Many will tell you why Python is great for teaching coding, so I'll tell you ways it's not. State is a bad default. It should be legal but safe & rare. The arc of programming is long and bends towards immutability. Its early use creates messes (eg, "a variable is a box".) ↵

I still think stochastic rounding to FP16 formats would be an almost universally good thing. Tensor units could track the entire uncertainty for the final sum random down-convert for a little bit more (heh) accuracy.
