India's Muslim and Scheduled Caste neighborhoods face systematically worse access to schools, clinics, and basic infrastructure. New research documents the extent of neighborhood segregation, currently invisible in the aggregate data used by policymakers. bit.ly/4saLvJH

This is how India's ruling party conducts it's election campaigns. Can't think of any other country with this kind of open and routine Der Sturmer level Nazified propaganda from official channels.

BJP West Bengal@BJP4Bengal

All they wanted was Peace and Prosperity, Safety and Security. But the @Aitcofficial government believes in Appeasement and Division. The victims of Murshidabad anti Hindu riots want their homes back. They want their lives back. That is why, they are saying #BanchteChaiBJPTai

India watchers may marvel at the size of its economy. But how many are paying attention to this mass disenfranchisement ongoing in the world's largest 'democracy'? 5.5 million citizens in just 1 state have lost their right to vote. 5.5 million is the size of Ireland or Finland.
Aunindyo Chakravarty@Aunindyo2023

During the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, West Bengal had 76 million registered voters. In 2026, this has dropped to 70.5 million, a decline of 5.5 million in two years. The difference in votes between the TMC and BJP in 2024 was 4.2 million.

ok, Pakistan has now come out of the shadows as the chosen 'go-between' for the US and Iran. this was foreseeable, and likely to have at least short-term implications for India. some v quick thoughts. 1/n

If some "patriotic" Indians decide to label Pakistan as a "terror haven," then they should also label India for what it has become, "a harsh racist Hindu ethnocracy." Looking in the mirror is the hardest thing to do.

Israel knows that it will probably never get another US president on whom there is so much kompromat. The perception of Israel in the global community is already negative. Because of this, in the coming years the Israel lobby in the US is going to weaken as it is already clear that open proximity to Israel hurts US candidates electorally. I don’t see this war ending anytime soon because I think Israel will try to achieve at least some of their operational goals before 2028 when the next US election is.

‘India is like three countries stacked in an economic ladder: 25m live in ‘Australia’-like affluence, ~200m in a ‘Philippines’-style service economy, while the rest struggle in conditions closer to sub-Saharan ‘Africa’. bloomberg.com/opinion/articl…

New evidence suggests India misestimated annual economic growth rate during the past two decades. Growth in boom years 2005-2011 may have been underestimated by ~1–1.5 percentage points, & growth from 2012-2023 overestimated by ~1.5-2 percentage points. piie.com/publications/w…

Important thread: The Kotdwar incident is not a random clash. It is part of state- backed campaign "Vyapar Jihad". Under this campaign muslim shopkeepers/vendors are being systematically targeted through intimidation, bycotts and administrative pressure. At the same time..1/5

Umar Khalid arrested for his alleged role in Delhi Riots All he did was give a speech promoting unity. But these people caught on camera with weapons + inciting hate are still free. This is new India for you. Kangana Ranaut rightly said there is no democracy in the country.

India’s Neighbourhood First Policy is felt most strongly in moments of need. The timely support extended and being extended to #SriLanka following #CycloneDitwah under Operation Sagar Bandhu reflects India’s role as a trusted friend and first responder. Grateful for this enduring partnership. 🇱🇰🇮🇳 mea.gov.in/press-releases…

If this game was being held in AUS/ENG/SA/NZ, the broadcasters would have been after the board questioning why are games being held in these conditions. But our media is in pits and they cannot question their bosses. Additionally, we as a society are moving towards having an Ostrich type view of things. There's no way to solve a problem, when you can look away and not acknowledge it.

Hardik Pandya spotted wearing a mask ahead of the match in Lucknow. The current AQI in Lucknow is 490 (hazardous). It’s downright dangerous for people to be playing sport in such conditions.
