@bhogleharsha Oh come on Harsha. Yes well done Indian batsmen for fighting hard. But when it is clear only a draw is possible just shake hands and go off. It happens all the time in domestic cricket in England. Personal landmarks come second to the game overall.

When you have batted 50 overs to save a test match, you are perfectly entitled to seek a cherished landmark. And it is good to see that everyone is in the batters' camp on this one. I have no issue with Stokes wanting to go off but I hope young Harry Brook, when he has a quiet moment to himself, will be a bit disappointed with what he did.

@benstokes38 Same logic for no-balls? If a batsman gets out on a no-ball, he should remain out and just add 1 run(like we are already doing) or 6. The batsman even gets a free-hit for an "unintentional" mistake of the bowler.
