I'm no constitutional scholar but a state that works for the oligarchs is one that fails to represent the people or act in their best interest

@jasonachristian @tankwycheck Pacifists can still possibly contribute to vanguardism in the sense of leadership and political action (seizing, imprisonment) without killing. Sorry for being abstruse but I think the point is, "To be a Marxist means being ready and willing to spill blood" is a bit much for me.

@jasonachristian @tankwycheck I think a distinction is rightly made between reformists who call themselves Marxists (pretty baffling) and 'passive' Marxists who are either disenfranchised from vanguardism or pacifists. You might find the latter baffling as well but in my view not necessarily disqualifying.

Re recent discourse, I’d wager that less than 1% of US academics identify as Marxists, and of those, 90% or more are left-leaning liberals, not advocates of vanguardism, dictatorship of the proletariat, or other features of political Marxism. Academia is flush with liberals.

@UtilityCalc Neoclassical economics is pretty bogus, mostly in its basic assumptions. It takes expertise to identify the lies though. And it's not as if the math is 2 + 2 = 5. It's more evil than wrong and it's not a science of moral value to begin with

The NYPD has just coined the term "anti-tech violent extremist activity" in light of the mass opposition to AI and data centers, according to @DRBoguslaw. The New York Intelligence and Counterterrorism Bureau at the NYPD has written a report that includes: "The chaotic atmosphere that may result from emergent AI technology in the next five years may fuel large-scale protests that devolve into civil unrest and anti-tech violent extremist activity, especially in large urban areas such as New York City." @WxPolitics15 My apartment complex is prettymuch a seniors home without the amenities. The existing system all but forces them to sell their homes as an asset source for capital. Nothing about it is oriented around human welfare, so speculators won't be taxed proportional to their holdings

Seniors should not be priced out of a house they already paid for because the area around them got more expensive. They didn’t suddenly get richer because Zillow says the house is worth more. Most of them are living on fixed income, paying higher insurance, higher utilities, higher groceries, and then the tax bill shows up like they somehow got a raise. People can argue all day about how to fund schools and services, and that part does matter. But making older homeowners keep rebuying the same house every year through property taxes is exactly why so many people feel like ownership is never really ownership.

@sibaburck Humans can recognize an ethical obligation to eat in ways that minimize suffering. Animals have no such duty because they can't. Superiority or not can't justify inflicting suffering either way. "We're not superior to animals therefore more animal death camps" is ludicrous

The argument that vegans think they are better than animals and meat eaters are more grounded always fascinated me.
Why not carry this logic through and argue human step dads should kill their girlfriends kids like lions do? Humans are not morally better than any animal right?

On Wednesday the House of Commons is debating my @NDP Bill C-247 that seeks to protect workers' right to strike.
Striking is a fundamental workers' right that has brought tremendous victories like maternity leave, the eight hour workday, and fair living wages.
Will this Liberal government support my bill to protect workers' rights? Or will they keep backsliding on workers' rights while propping up their billionaire buddies?
