A few minutes later, the nurse came back and handed them a Post-It note with the name of an abortion clinic in New Mexico. The fetus’ had a heartbeat. Texas says fuck your feelings. Texas says fuck your emotions. Fuck your health. Fuck your pain and fuck your trauma. She could not afford to leave the state. There were no other options. Fast forward… “And then, as one, they exhaled. There was no miracle. The diagnosis was right. These babies would not survive.” Born and died August 9, 2023. Delivered to bury. I was fortunate enough to get a private screening of the film, Killers of the Flower Moon earlier this month. Having been marginally released from my NDA with the premiere of the film today at Cannes, I have a few thoughts.
