Yes! As someone without a financial safety net this absolutely resonates. I only moved an hour away from my med school and it still burns 💸. My @ynab budget is hard to look at these days 😵 @FirstGenMD

Nobody wants to say this, so I will. The length of time between the last financial aid disbursement of medical school and the first residency paycheck is *far* too long. Over and over, the process of entering the medical profession punishes those without a financial safety net.

Sex designations on birth certificates offer no clinical utility, and they can be harmful for intersex and transgender people. Moving such designations below the line of demarcation would not compromise the birth certificate’s public health function but could avoid harm.
