Mother, teacher & DHT. Hedonist who loves a challenge. Can also be sceptical and a tad cynical at times.

Word of the day is ‘throttlebottom’: an inept, bumbling, and possibly embarrassing holder of public office.

Word of the day is 'pish-monger', 17th century: one who treats others with scornful contempt (as if constantly uttering a dismissive 'pish!').

Word of the day is 'quisquilious' (17th century): 'worthless' or 'trivial'; an obscure and rather beautiful way to describe something as rubbish.

SLT posts don’t come up at Uffculme very often. This is an amazing opportunity to make a difference to our most vulnerable students. eteach.com/job/assistant-…

Another reminder that the word ‘ultracrepidarian’ (19th century) describes someone who loves holding forth on matters they know absolutely nothing about.

Workload: Teachers don't object to working hard on the things that matter. They ARE drained by working hard on things which don't connect with their moral purpose. @samtwiselton, the @CharteredColl conversation on the #FutureofTeaching & developing & supporting teachers & leaders

I had a mini work epiphany today. I love my job and there are some parts of the job that make you feel energised and excited. Today I did lots of work on CPD and Teaching and Learning and leadership and it felt so good. Sometimes I miss that part of my old job an awful lot.
