Found out that two of my young interns were following Cockroach Janta Party, so I casually asked them why. Their answer: “We don’t know what it is… it’s trending, looks like a fun meme page, so we followed too.” LOL. Honestly, that explains the entire phenomenon. A huge chunk of Instagram TG today blindly follows trends, aesthetics, memes and viral waves without even knowing what they're endorsing or why they're there in the first place. Beyond the obvious Pakistani and Bangladeshi audience, a lot of the Indian Gen Z following CJP seems completely clueless about what exactly they are supporting. And that's the most dangerous part of all this: youngsters are no longer following ideologies. Without using brains, 'most of them' are blindly following virality with a herd mentality.

Shreya, the satire page was created in America. Social media accounts and handles created outside India do not get the protection of Article 19. Also, the creators behind this page, also in America, are questionable characters. Legally, the GOI has all the aces.
