The SDP has the most interesting and original social democratic platform I have ever seen. They: - openly advocate for higher interest rates to stop asset inflation - openly advocate to stop "dissaving" and overconsumption - want to encourage companies to invest in their employees over replacing them with cheap immigrants by taxing them less the longer their employees work there - 50k net migration limit per year - turn the state into an infrastructure investment machine - reject and oppose calls form the left to simply increase welfare, even dare to say that the pension system has to be sustainable - openly call to the end of the overvaluation of the pound to promote British industry - openly nationalist and patriotic - they advocate for total NIMBY death by restricting local opposition to housing construction - end buy to let mortgages This is what social democratic policies need to look like. Patriotic and developmentalist instead of welfareist. With genuine ideas on how to uplift *workers* in the UK. It's disappointing that they're Eurosceptic, but it's understandable considering they need new Bank of England policies to realise their policies. Full support to the SDP and their gigabrain team who've come up with their amazingly original proposals.

Tom Holland put it best in his book PAX: “The Gauls might be more numerous, the Germans taller, the Spaniards physically stronger, the Africans more practiced in the arts of treachery and bribery, the Greeks more cunning and intelligent; but only the legions had the disciplina Romana. This it was that had enabled them to conquer the world.”

This is the heart of the problem, this is why people vote for the populist right: mass immigration-induced demographic change leading to native Europeans becoming a minority in their own cities and eventually their countries - all the violence, terror and alienation are merely side-phenomena. Populists aren't wrong for being against this - the vast majority of Europeans do not want it - but for all the other stuff they are pushing, like euroscepticism, petty nationalism and Kremlin-apologism. As pan-Europeans, we need to cut through their nonsense, address this problem head-on and propose a rational, peaceful solution. And maintaining a native European majority should be the explicitly stated policy goal of such a solution - something that populists only hint at, but seldom say openly. It can all be resolved, and done so without discrimination, at least not more than is currently taking place in many member states for the benefit of minorities. Compensating people who have or are entitled to a non-European nationality to give up their EU-passport and move to their family's homeland would be the most important part of such a solution. It would simply be an extended version of the policy that Sweden currently already has for migrants or, one could say, the reverse of the "buy a passport" program that Malta has - and I would encourage anyone advocating for such a solution to use examples like these as rhetorical devices. Last but not least, this solution has to be implemented at a European level. This is another difference between pan-Europeans and the eurosceptic right: even if the latter would somehow manage to solve it, it would apply to just one country. A real solution can only come from European cooperation. We are dealing with a Europe-wide problem that needs to be resolved by, through and for Europe.

Romanian infra seems at least 30% behind. You sense it from the moment your land in the airport. - Gypsies really caused a lot of damage to Romania's reputation abroad. - Overall lower sense of civic duty, discipline and reliability across the society. More 'leaving things till the last moment' and corner cutting mindset. (Maybe Poles are better with these things as they traded with Germans more historically). Despite the above, I still see deep value in certain Romanian assets vs Poland. De ziua Europei, să-i dorim mai multă liberate. Europa este un continent extraordinar, iar asta nu doar din motive istorice și culturale, ci și economice. Un continent bogat, divers și cu o economie capabilă să facă excelență și să conducă dezvoltarea umanității. Cele patru libertăți fundamentale pe care s-a bazat Uniune Europeană au dus la dezvoltare și prosperitate. Fix acele libertăți trebuie consolidate. Prea multă birocrație și supra-reglementare au condus la un decalaj de dezvoltare față de SUA și China. În top companii ca importanță mondială Europa nu are decât o mână de companii. Vestea bună este că Europa pare să se fi trezit și acum revine la rădăcinile care au adus prosperitate. Întrebarea e cu ce viteză? Comisia Europeană a început să mai dea jos din intervenționismul trecut. Recent a introdus 10 proiecte „omnibus” pentru de-reglementare. Foarte bine. Mai mult, a propus un nou regim de întreprindere europeană care să fie în concurență cu regimurile din statele membre. Deocamdată nu e încă ce trebuie, dar are toate șansele să devină. Se fac și pași pentru uniunea piețelor financiare, unde fragmentarea și supra-reglementarea, iar țin Europa în urmă. Europa a început și să se conecteze mai puternic comercial cu restul lumii și să semneze mari tratate de liber schimb și cu Mercosur și cu India. Iarăși, foarte bine. Multe semne bune pentru libertate, dar încă mai e mult drum de parcurs. Pentru România, destinul nostru este alături de Europa. În ultimele luni cea mai mare greșeală de politică externă a fost refuzul României de a se integra în scutul nuclear francez. O plasă de siguranță într-o lume în care descurajarea nucleară poate opri din fașă războaie. Sper că statul român își va reconsidera poziția pe acest subiect. Până atunci, la mulți ani Europa! Libertatea a făcut Europa puternică în trecut, libertatea o va face și în viitor.

One the one hand you have doomers and yanks painting the most cartoonishly pessimistic picture of Europe. On the other hand you have new style of cringe, establishment-backed positivity that purposefully ignores any problem related to immigration. And we, European civilisationists, are caught right in the middle.

Guvernul naționalizează combinatul Azomureș. Domnul Bolojan zice că așa „salvăm industria națională de îngrășăminte chimice”. În final, guvernul va lăsa România cu mai multe companii de stat decât avea înainte. Naționalizarea unui combinat nu este nici liberală, nici europeană și nici reformă. Statul român va fi singurul stat din Uniunea Europeană care să fie proprietar asupra unui combinat de îngrășăminte chimice. Singurul. Statul polonez mai are o deținere minoritară într-un astfel de combinat, dar atât. Restul toate sunt companii private. Poate asta ar fi trebuit să dea puțin de gândit guvernului înainte de naționalizare. La fel poate ar fi trebuit să dea de gândit că PSD nu doar că nu a mai „blocat reforma”, dar chiar a susținut naționalizarea încă de pe vremea guvernului Ciolacu. Fix asta a susținut și AUR și Călin Georgescu: naționalizarea. De ce să nu mai avem încă o companie de stat? Doar nu conduce statul atât de bine companiile sale? Și iată cum ideile din vremea lui Ceaușescu unesc partide aparent diametral opuse. Aparent, pentru că la nivel de idei și politici publice, toți gândesc identic. Pe lângă cele 1.500 de companii ale statului român, vom mai avea încă una. Pe principiul că „de data asta sigur va ieși bine”. N-are cum să nu meargă. Mai încercăm a 1.501-a oară managementul profesionist de la stat. Avem chiar și o agenție de stat pentru companii de stat. Deci cum ar putea să nu iasă bine? Din punct de vedere economic, sunt două posibilități: fie acest combinat are sens economic să existe, fie nu. Dacă are sens să existe, atunci trebuia căutat un investitor privat care să-l ia. Asta am făcut eu când m-am confruntat cu aceeași situație la Combinatul de Oțeluri Speciale Târgoviște, când tot aceleași partide voiau să-l naționalizez. Am refuzat, am căutat investitori și i-am și găsit. Iar dacă combinatul nu are sens economic să existe, atunci la stat nu va fi altceva decât să fie o nouă gaură neagră de alimentat de banii dumneavoastră. Când auziți politicieni că „salvează” companii întrebați-vă cu ce bani le salvează mai exact? Cu banii lor sau cu banii dumneavoastră? Răspunsul este evident.

De ce au crescut taxele și de ce vor mai crește. Ministrul finanțelor a anunțat ieri seară alte noi scheme de afaceri pe banii statului în valoare de 5.3 miliarde de lei. O sumă imensă. După ce au crescut taxele ceea ce a dus la prăbușirea economică pe care o vedem de câteva luni, se laudă acum cu noi creșteri de cheltuieli. Nici vorbă să se gândească să reducă taxarea mare care e în România. Schemele acestea de afaceri pe banii statului nu „ajută economia” și nu „susțin industria”. De ce? Pentru că banii pentru ele de unde credeți că provin? Ați ghicit. Tot din economie. Adică tot de la dumneavoastră. Nu sunt decât o redistribuție de la unii la alții. De la marea masă a populației taxată către cele câteva corporații care vor fi subvenționate. De la săraci la bogați. De facto e asistență socială pentru bogați. Iar asta vine de la aceiași politicieni care acum câteva luni spuneau că „trebuie să crească taxele”. Le-au crescut și acum aruncă cu miliardele luate. Poate înțelege domnul Bolojan de ce a fost o greșeală fatală să crească taxele acum 9 luni. Ministrul finanțelor zice că vrea să „ajute economia”. De fapt, dacă chiar ar vrea să ajute economia, ar propune reducerea taxării muncii cu acești 5.3 miliarde de lei. Așa ar încuraja și munca și ar ajuta toată economia, nu doar cele câteva corporații care au făcut lobby pentru bani gratis de la stat. Dar nu va reduce taxarea pentru că atunci n-ar mai avea putere discreționară din pix să dea miliarde către cei care fac lobby. Dumneavoastră, plătitorii de taxe, sunteți loviți de două ori prin aceste scheme. O dată prin taxarea care a tot crescut și va mai crește pentru a finanța aceste scheme. Și a doua oară prin concurența neloială pe care acele corporații o vor face cu banii dumneavoastră. Iar lor dacă nu le merge afacerea, asta e, pierde contribuabilul. Dacă le merge, însă, profitul rămâne 100% al lor. Frumoasă afacere.
